Our class went up to Tyson today, in North Wilks. NC. They said that their new trucks are Macks, the rest is Volvo, and 4 Kens. All their new stuff is auto:biggrin_25513:. He claimed that is cost a lot more to run the auto's, he is hopefull that they will someday go back to sticks. They are only looking to hire one person. Sounds like a really good place to work, the guy that was talking to us pulled me aside afterwards and said that he was told to hire myself, but my heart is saying flatbed. Plus I want to try and get another job back with a race team, so I will be at least another few weeks after we graduate beating the streets around here. By then they will have their guy. I will say if you want to pull reefer it sounds like a good gig. And they have a discounted Tyson store full of their products. I filled a huge cooler full of frozen food for fifty bucks!:yes2557:

You have probaly already started orientation, but if not the road test and backing is not hard. they used 2 have a yard where u had to do several backs but they sold it. orientation is from m-f. it may seem rough the 1st couple of days the way they do things, but it wl get better n u wl like it once u get on ur own. good luck.

they are using the macks and internationals mainly, slowly phasing out the volvos. even though there is a lot of d/h, u will still sit at some places 4 a long time waiting 4 ur load 2 b loaded on a trailer.

I didn't end up at Tyson after all. Because of some stress in my life I had to repeat a lot of my backing labs....the last week of March I had to redo my application and they didn't have any female trainers for me......so now I'm going to USXpress in Dallas on the 19th.

BIG mistake- STAY AWAY from U.S. Xpress. I worked there for 6 years until 2003 when it was evident that they were going downhill fast.

Unless you drive team for USX they will supposedly make you lease a truck from them as a solo driver now- that's a rip-off. NEVER lease a truck from the same company that's providing you with loads to haul.

Hello all. I'm about to start for Tyson myself. So long as I pass my schooling which starts on Aug 23rd for me. Musicgal pretty much told you all the same things they told me so I'm pretty stoked.
