I know a woman who asked a recruiter if they did that particular test & was told that they didn't know. so she had her hair styled & went to orientation & when she got there they chopped some off & she turned around and sued & actually won; so I think it's a legitimate question

Hey truckerpete! I read the post here. I got my cdl 04 dec2013. I made the choice to go with universal trucking. I am now training in detroit michigan and am having 2nd thoughts cause im not getting much training. I already turned in app for tysons and they were going to hire me. I may give this up in next couple days and go to tysons. Just need a little input. Can u send a message to my email? I live in rogers.

    Hello TruckerPete,

My name is Marcus, and I have been talking with Tyson for the past couple of weeks. Last week they said I was approved to come on with Tyson, but they are seriously short on trainers. Well I got the call today saying I can start Orientation this coming Monday, Jan, 20th. I will be driving up from Fort Worth, TX. I have been following all of your Tyson posts and I appreciate your accurate info.

How is the driving and backing test again? The word "test" just always makes me nervous. Are you a trainer?

    Thx for any additional info

    Marcus

No pets as of about six years ago. Approved riders age 13 and older.

Driving and backing test? No big whoop. I don't believe anybody in my group failed.

Somebody asked about whether info was checked prior to orientation or at orientation. Apparently, the surface criteria are examined and approved prior to orientation. However, I recall from my orientation one individual who quit previous driving job to come to Tyson then was not allowed to complete Tyson orientation because he had had not been drug tested in...I dunno, 18 mos?...nor could he prove that he'd been in a pool susceptible to being drug tested. So, it's possible to get as far as orientation then encounter a snag. He was pissed, but who knows if he was legit or not.

I can also attest...no follicle test.

To mje... I can't reply to personal message til I hv 7 posts. Tyson will hire in your area. Their website answers most FAQ.

what's tysons hometime policy? when dropping off the truck on hometime does it have to springdale or russellville? there's a small plant in Waldron near my house. I ran dedicated for my current company out of there for awhile.

According to the sheet of paper that the recruiters hand out (recent handout 1/15/2014 ish) says:
"-Average time out: 10-14 days. For every 6 days out, 1 day off.
-Terminal locations: Springdale, AR., New Holland, PA., many Tyson facilities allow parking."

Wasn't super specific about all the places to park the truck. Maybe someone that works there currently can be a bit more detailed with that part.
