Just wanted to update everyone, I have been working here for 5 moonths now after trying to find the right fit after 15 years and a lot of companies. Everyone that I am friends with that drive are crying about miles, well we have em' been averaging 2800-3400 miles every week. Be advised this place is not for the weak hearted, we run hard. If you have 45 min. left on your log book for the day they will find something for you to do. We log it old school, rolling over hours at midnight,no restarts, for osme of you older drivers you remember the days before restarts. we do have to wait a lot, that is because most customers demand their product as fresh as possible 6 hours from clucker to trucker. It is nice to call dispatch and they know your name. night dispatch has as much power as day dispatch. You are not in the shop for 3 days for a PM,usually takes 2-4 hours. I think the best thing is 60% of my running is plant to plant, usually preplanned 2 loads ahead . And the best thing is NO PRODUCE and no BROKERS.(very seldom anway, except for the occaisional load out of FL to get us closer to a plant.) We haul our own freight. I get home when I want to,and leave when i want to. If you come over here with thew attitude that we are a trucking company they will tell you straight out "We are a food manufacturer with trucks" If you are interested and want to hear more I will reply to all posts.:biggrin_2551::biggrin_25519::biggrin_2554:

My neighbor called them last week (he is fresh out school) he said they were not hiring anyone in TN. I feel so bad for him, he is super clean and graduated last month, he has applied to 20 companies and only has offers from Werner and USA......even Swift is getting picky now, they told him they only hire from their own school at this point.

Hey TT....I am going thru orientation in Springdale on Dec 6. Is there anything you can tell me about how that week is gonna go? I have heard from every tyson driver that I talk to that there are plenty of miles and they keep the equipment in good shape. But any other info would be nice. thanks,

Just approach oreintation as a long interview proccess.. which it is. Have 10 years of employment and residency ready as you will need to complete another application and they will want names numbers and addresses of all your past employment. Pay attention and listen (don't fall asleep during all the hours of videos) and you will have no problems. You will go through another DOT physical and drug screen and have to have all your DOT required paperwork especially your class A license. For some reason some of the people at our orenitation did not think that was needed?????

They will provide a hotel room which is pretty nice considering... Breakfast came as part of the hotel room by the way. Tyson has lunch catered in so you only have to provide your dinner. Thats not always easy as the big fast food joints are several blocks away. If you can afford it then there is a restraunt at the hotel but plan on at least 10 dollars for dinner.

You will do road test's and Smith System Training as part of oreintation. All in all its pretty easy just a long process because of all the paper work. You'll do fine if you have your ducks in a row. The experianced drivers will probably be assigned a truck right after orentation is over on Friday. Trainee's may have to wait to get matched up with a trainer.

    Hope that helps.

Well I am set to go to Orientation on Dec. 27th in Springdale, AR. I have already sent them the second application which is the 1 they want your past 10 years employment history, and it is being reviewed right now and I was told to call back tomorrow to make sure that there is no problems with my application. It seems that since I worked for Tyson's in the past at 1 of their plants and I quit they are a little concerned. Everything seemed to be going pretty smoothly until that, but I figured if I get past this speed bump then I am in with no worries and I will be a head of the game when orientaion week comes. Anyways wish me luck and I hope they look past that and everything goes as planned.
