Hey guys, just wandering whats ups describe as a feeder driver there are many jobs that are opening with this description in my area but only a little paragraph describing each. They have road drivers (feeder) and t-t drivers (feeder). They say fulltime but is this just as UPS needs drivers (like u have a fulltime job when we have the work) or is this dependable hours? My brother worked for UPS for a time and I know it can take years to move into full time driver so just curious what this fulltime position is. Thanks in advance for your replies!

Feeder driver is UPS Brown. Package operations. Union job. Has nothing to do with UPS freight or Supply chain or any other branch of UPS. They wish. If you drive a brown day cab its mostly to one facility and back pulling doubles 80 percent of the time. At least here it is. Pay starts at .39 a mile if your roundtrip is over 450 miles. They will have you a hotel room set up at your destination if need be. If its under that your getting hourly rate. If you run a sleeper team its .41 per mile. ( to you. ) You will spilt the miles with your partner. Most of these runs are high milegae. You drive 10 hours, he drives 10 hours. UPS will take care of you. You never have to worry about running an illegal logbook. Safety is number 1 to UPS. The sleeper trucks are Volvo or International Pro- Stars. If you can get on as a feeder driver off the street then you should roll the dice and do it. The money is worth it. Any other questions I can answer for you ? :biggrin_25519:

I was hired as a seasonal feeder driver a few years back. What I got when I showed up for my first day of work was a bait and switch. We were all actually hired to be yard jockeys.

Not sure if all of regular UPS is union, but I do know that my location was. If you wanted a full time position, you started off on the docks for $8-something an hour, and worked your way up, regardless of your license and/or experience.

Job seemed great, with great pay, a lot of miles, nothing more than drop and hooks, and being home every night. I would have loved to do it, but wasn't in the position to suffer through however long it would have taken me to put in my time making lousy wages. Eventually got hired on at UPS Freight truckload, and couldn't be happier with what I am doing.

I get 16.55 an hour yard jockeying or a brown truck run under 450.miles round trip. If its farther than that they pay .39 mile. A sleeper truck run you get .41 a mile. I really like it. Never know what they are gonna have you do from day to day. All no touch freight. Union. You should give it a shot. Pulling doubles is alot better and easier than one 53 ft.

They told me $ 16.10 an hour plus mileage for sleeper team. Running from Hodgkins IL to Minneapolis. Do you get paid for the hours driven and the mileage? Otherwise that is low wages, you won't make crap at that rate it's only a little over 400 miles!

UPS calls their line haul drivers Feeders because they bring in and out truck loads of packages and "Feed" the system.

Job sucked,,routes were timed and if a driver came in under time managers questioned the driver and if a driver took more time than allowed managers questioned the driver.
In 1977 and 1978 I was paid $9.50/hr and went from landover md to Bordentown nj and back every night ..
95% of all UPS single driver day cab tractor trailer drivers (feeder drivers) work nights,,to get a day run from one of their hubs a driver usually has to be there for 15 years or more,, UPS trucks have no radios,,back in the 70's they did not have power steering,,worst driving job I ever had,
