I'm hearing you, been there done that. Hopefully the trucking companies won't resort to a military type of training or physical fitness test, you know the once a year run and what goes with it.
Still laughing at the thought of people having to do the quack and yack.

I went through orientation in Dallas and this is what you have to do.
Duck Walk....squat down and walk below a line on the wall.
Milk crate with dumbbells in it equivalent to the weight of snow chains on a a shelf unit.....(forget which order)..lift from one shelf to the other and down again, carry it about 30' down the hall and back.
Climb up and down a small step ladder by stepping on the second rung (this is make sure you can climb in and out of a trailer)
A strength testing device is attached to a stud in the wall. You pull on it and hold it to see if you have the strength needed to pull the tandem lever.
Another strength testing device is held up against the wall above your head and you push on it.
I am 5'5" tall and not that strong. If I can do it I know you can.
Another thing...I live about 6 hours away near Joplin, MO. My son drove me down and they reimbursed me the cost of my gas.basstime54, Conspicuous_Cutie, engine312 and 2 others Thank this. -

Thank you musicgal, most helpful, truly appreciate the response! Glad to hear your travel expense was reimbursed. I consider six hours a long distance to drive, glad to hear your son helped you out. If I lived the same distance as you I would probably take the bus or drive myself. Thanks again for the response, and good luck to you!
Yeah, sounds better than that JimDriv3r -- simple enough. -
sounds so easy even a caveman can do it...LOL
basstime54 Thanks this. -
"Climb up and down a small step ladder by stepping on the second rung (this is make sure you can climb in and out of a trailer".
Seems like this could easily be determined by actually seeing you climb in and out of a trailer, as in during the road test. There is a road test, right? -
On the road test, I shared with another driver. He drove out of the yard, onto the freeway, around a little, got off the freeway, and then I took over. Drove back to the yard and backed into a space.
You will enjoy orientation with the instructor. His name is Dodd and he can be quite funny at times. He was a middle-school teacher, I believe.basstime54 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the replies.
