How are the auto-shift transmissions?

    It works as however many gears the trans has. The Ultrashift (I forgot the name from Eaton) I drove was a 10 speed. The iShift was a 12 speed. I have seen 18 speed autos as well.

    Werner's fleet is mostly 8 speed manuals with the top 2 auto feature (autoshifts 8-9). In 21 years over the road, it is the worst POS I've ever encountered. It fails to correctly up/down shift 50% of the time. Going up hills under load, by the time it figures out it needs to down shift to 8, I'm already needing 7th. If the autoshift/ultrashifts operate as badly, I don't know how long one could tolerate it before pulling out your hair.
