Drivers will be assigned a point system for each violation incurred on a roadside inspection. The point system will be for a rolling 12-month
evaluation period during which time a driver can reduce his/her points for each clean inspection worth five (5) points. A driver’s points will reset to
zero after they demonstrate a consecutive 12 months of safe, violation free driving. This program will go into effect February 1st, 2011.
In both the Unsafe Driving and Fatigued Driving categories the driver cannot exceed more than 30 points within a 12-month period.
    Unsafe Driving Related Events

    • All driver controllable violations listed under the Unsafe Driving Category other than graduated speed = 10 points.
    • Speeding 10mph or less, 1st offense = 5 points
    • Speeding 10mph or less, 2nd offense = 10 points
    • Speeding 10 mph or less, 3rd offense = 20 points
    • Speeding 11mph or greater, 1st offense = 10 points
    • Speeding 11mph or greater, 2nd offense = 20 points
    • Speeding Construction / Work Zone, 1st offense = 10 points
    • Speeding Construction / Work Zone, 2nd offense = 20 points

Note: On inspections where the speed overage is not specified each offense will count 10 points
Violations classified as 392.2 and described as a driver controllable Unsafe Driving behavior will count 10 points. Graduated speed violations listed
under 392.2 will follow the same point valuation as listed above.

    Corrective Action
    • 10 points or less - Safety counseling, Assigned training targeting specific violation, Written Warning
    • 20 points or less - Counseling with Operations and Safety, Assigned training targeting specific violation, Written warning, 6-
    month safety probation
    • 29 points or less - Counseling with Operations and Safety, Assigned training targeting specific violation, Written warning, 12-
month safety probation, Minimum 4-day suspension (Driver cannot return to active status until training has
    been completed)
    • 30 points or greater - Driver will be presented to the SRC (Safety Review Committee) to determine disciplinary action, up to and
    including termination
    Fatigued Driving Related Events
    • Any violation that results in an OOS (Out of Service) order relating to hours of service violations = 10 points
    • All other violations that do not result in an OOS (Out of Service) order related to Hours of Service violations, excluding Form and Manner hours
of service violations = 7 points
    • Form and Manner hours of service violations = 2 points
    • Two (2) - OOS (Out of Service) orders received within a 12 month period = 30 points

Combination of Fatigue and Unsafe Driving Related Events
    • Any driver which on a single inspection receives 30 points related to both Fatigue and Unsafe Driving categories will be presented to the
SRC (Safety Review Committee) to determine disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
