Got my truck fixed yesterday and left Olive Branch about 1800 for delivery just north of Birmingham in Cullman, AL...Walmart DC.......have spent the last 20+ hrs sitting out here on the road.

Woke up this morning to a PP going to Norfolk, VA......accepted it.....then messaged my dispatcher "After this load I need one headed for home. Hometime was set for tomorrow.".........A few hours and several nice messages back and forth...............I was taken OFF the load and he had me on a Home Depot Run from McCalla (just south of here) to Lafayette and Broussard, LA.....then a run from the Arnold yard in Port Allen, LA up almost to Olive Branch...........and then from there I will get to head for home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As soon as I get a load...LOL

Now I got to get my shoes on and get ready to run. Pick up at 2115 about 65 miles from here.

You just gotta love freezing rain. Day started off badly when I missed the stop signal at a Weigh Station entering Kentucky. I really did think I had the green light but just looked down too soon. He came chasing after me and made me come around. My sales skills really paid off and I got off with a warning. Be nice makes a difference folks. I made a joke about it and got him talking about everything BUT my stupidity. I felt pretty fortunate pulling out of there for free.
Then the weather turned nasty. Hard, cold, blowing rain in Indianapolis and then it turned to freezing rain. Very treacherous so we cut the speed down to about 35 and limped into the Markham terminal where we dropped our trailer and got an empty. Headed to Moline for a Fedex load to Boise. Just West of Des Moines now headed for a fuel stop at the Lincoln Terminal. Weather is cold and dry but Utah and Idaho look pretty bad ahead of us.

I absolutely hating having my days and nights turned upside down. Got my Home Depot loads delivered and spent the day in the parking lot. Slept about 4 hrs. Then I had the "joy" of finding the Arnold yard in Port Allen, LA. It is not even a yard, just a bunch of trailers parked on the back lot of a truck stop on a frontage road which you can't find in the dark.

Grabbed my trailer and headed back up towards Memphis to deliver in Byhalia. Got in just in time to drop my trailer, grab another, talk to dispatch, head back across 302 to Walls where I got the first half of a 2 stop load and spent the day sleeping in their parking lot. I will pick up the 2nd stop in the morning and then head for the Kansas City area, take my break, and then head 160 miles to home.

B e careful out there guys, Ice is not good, and definitely not worth risk of injury or life. If its too risky, shut it down! Better safe in a parking lot than in a ditch.

Nope, our 2012 Cascadia with a whole 2400 miles on it broke down. The regen system failed and all the pretty lights started flashing. They had to repower our load We limped back to North Platte NE and the truck is in the shop and we are in a hotel (pretty nice one too....thank you breakdown department) We hope to get it back tomorrow, should find something out in the morning. Whole story on my blog.

Welcome to USX, kshillbilly....I hope things work out for you. I may see you in Irving since my truck needs to go to the shop again. Olive Branch couldn't do my PM because I wasn't close enough and I found out I need a new CPU since my Windows is starting to crash. I'm going to find out if Irving can do it since I am now 3,000 miles short and only Irving and Tunnel Hill have the CPU's.

Well, I made it home yesterday afternoon, but not without my share of "fun". I was going from Memphis to Kansas City....spent the night about halfway across I70 at one of my favorite stops called the McStop in Kingdom City....a little bit of snow when I stopped. BUT, when I got up there was more snow and about 20 miles down the road ice started showing up on the road. Everyone was doing about 30mph, sometimes slower. I had one little spot where my truck slid just a tad and I had to steer out of it....there was several times, tho, when my traction control came on.

After I dropped my load, got my empty, and was headed for home I was told to take my MT across town to the FedEx yard. Going across one section I carefully applied my brakes and my trailer slid over at about a 45degree angle!!!!! Fortunately I wasn't surrounded by traffic, came off the brakes and the trailer slid right back over where it belonged....LOL
