Hello Future Comrades ("hola compañeros futuro"):
Well after 1.5 weeks I sent a reply to the "malformed" email address sent to me by US Xpress. The mail administrator failed to properly field
the recruiter's name properly.
I said " call me next week; i look forward to precessing".
Hopefully the recruiter is busy processing more qualified candidates and not web surfing or texting his girlfriend. I am sure that is the case.
I received an email from Crete today saying they are expanding their regional fleet. That company has always in my trucking history been considered the best but I do not qualify unless their insurance carrier
and a driver manager has got the savvy to judge me by how I handle a truck during the drive test. It is always the insurance carrier/safety department that has the last word no matter how much a manager wants you or "forgives" you.
I hope to go to orientation in Irving since I could use a good road trip/vacation on the way at Big Bend National Park.

Congrats!
Three days of videos, pizza, and then your behind the wheel.
I won't be in a panic till the end of April. Then I will have to go ahead
and hold my nose and go with a less desirable situation.

Can someone tell me if the recruiters are all in Chattanooga or distributed throughout the terminals. I am up getting starbucked and wified and ready
to place a call to see about getting some action. Did anyone meet an US Xpress
recruiter at trucking school? and how quickly did they act on the application?
I am starting to think maybe the recruiters are working on those applications.
Staffmark is hiring CDL drivers here for port work. Might as well jump through
their hoops now. -
I met one while I was in school, never sent an app. while I was there. A couple of guys did and got response in a day or 2. I called the recruiting dept. up had the app. and faxed back a couple days later. I called him on a Monday and set things up.

I called the recruiters today in Chattanooga. They picked up after the second attempt.
As an experienced driver I did not qualify for the following:
no recent experience in past 3 years (got to be over-the road and not me moving around the tractors and trailers in the yard for the diesel mechanic instructor). Most people realize this is the standard set by the online application if one reads between the lines. It is always nice to talk to someone rather than deduce such
knowledge of course.
So I offerred to enter as a student:
Again I did not qualify since my last driving school (been to four in my life) was not in 18 months. It must be 160 hours (that is standard for financial aid too).
So the best way to "re-enter" the industry if you don't have recent otr experience
in 3 years or your driving school diploma is over 18 months old is to return to school. This is what I intend to do to come over to US Express.
The recruiting people were most gracious and helpful. They read this blog too and
do not hold my opinions against me (they are welcome to my lawless hacienda to enjoy the pleasures of Mexico anytime).
Moving over to the Werner Board to see what they are about.
Will return to US Express threads when I get to orientation.

I think you made it. When I called to inquire I was told they could not bring me back. Sensing my enthusiasm to do anything I was transferred to the new student line where I found out my schooling was too old. That being the only hurdle I signed up for school today. It seems like (as other have said) that persistence pays off at US Xpress; I had the opposite experience at the dysfunctional Schneider where I was punished by a dysfunctional control freak recruiter for pursuing employment as anyone of us would do if determined.
Oh....even though I am out here starring at the sun set on the pacific, my recruiter was in Chattanooga.
I wanted to haul butt to Texas too and be in orientation by the 18th but now it looks I should be there in May. My dream to is to be in my own truck by June
chasing thunderstorms.NoCoCraig Thanks this.
