Well, their stats show that they are at 56.9% in the unsafe driving catagory and 50.7% in the fatigued driving catagory. BUT, still have not been red flagged by the dot to enforce any extra inspections. So, they must be doing ok as far operations goes, with that being said, it does not mean you will make 3000 miles a week, just because i know too much of bottom feeder companies myself.

Years ago i drove for Southwest Motor Freight which was Clyde fullers company..Clyde was great guy and as a SOLO i ran from ontario california to atlanta georgia and back. we had a little terminal in fontana california and Valiery was our terminal manager. then came Max ..Clyde's son and we then became one company called USX.. there was anger and anamosity between the change over..There was no hugh usx in choo choo just tunnel hill and even that was small.. i ran and made good money back then but the one day that Max came into the terminal and threw some dimes on the table in front of drivers and said "Drivers are a dime a dozen" was when i quit there...I have safe driving awards...and jackets from them but the insult towards us was overwhelming.. I got along with everyone from Valiery to Karla to Kenny and Mike and was treated fair but like i said as soon as Max came in I lost my dedicated Run and was told Solo's could only go as far as OKCY...then the dime incident..i hope you all do good no matter where you work in this industry and hope you all prosper..be safe out there..

Well I said I would post an itemized account of ways you lose money working at US Xpress, so here are some of the main ways I see on about every paycheck I ever got from them. I will include some examples to back up my statements as well.
1. Pay based on house hold movers guide vrs practical route mileage.
Ex. A trip from Tunnel Hill, GA to Laradeo, TX 1128 miles using house hold movers guide mileage. 1183 miles using pc miler practical route miles. Thats a difference of 55 miles x .42 cpm = $23.00. Don't sound like a big deal but over a year shortages like that will add up to $1000.00's.
2. Paid on a sliding pay scale.
Ex. Using the same example above Tunnel Hill, Ga to Laradeo, TX. We will use practical route miles as well which is 1183 miles. Now on a sliding pay scale you will make the minimum cpm because the trip is in the 901+ mileage scale in my case I made .36 cpm on this trip which is .06 cpm less than I make on trips 0-300 miles which is .42 cpm. So .06 cpm x 1183 = $70.98. Dont sound like a big deal add that up over a year!
So I want to pause here a sec and put these two examples together. So in ex. 1 working at US Xpress paid on house hold movers guide mileage I lost $23.00 and in ex. 2 Being paid on a sliding pay scale I lost $70.98 so thats $93.98 on one trip imagine what that kinda stuff would add upto over a whole year?
3. Students using tuition reimbursement.
ex. To participate in this US Xpress will deduct .02 cpm from your mileage rate. US Xpress pays $150.00 toward your tuition each month at .02 cpm that they deduct it takes 7500 miles to make that $150.00. Lets say you average 2400 miles a week x 4 weeks = 9600 miles per month. 9600 miles per month x .02 cpm which is what they charge you = $192.00 that you gave US Xpress to pay that $150.00 which is $42.00 you give US Xpress each month to pay your tuition. -

The backbone of the company are the people that are the least paid, and don't even come close to get any respect for what they do everyday. In case it is not clear here, the driver is the backbone of the company. The driver is the one that does not get the holiday pay, or any of the other company perks that those 8 to 5 people get, so why is it that the driver is the one that gets screwed?
I for one have a lot more respect for the people that do the work everyday.
