I was talking to some lease guys while I was hanging out at Tunnel Hill. There were a couple guys who were on their third or fourth truck. One piece of advice I got was to do the lease plan for a year. If you like it then switch over to the lease purchase.

I might do this, but I will probably wait until they have some ten speeds. My concern is with maintenance on the autos as they get older.

Yea, that might be good advice to try 1 year lease first. I drove several autos ranging from 1999 to 2011. Kept most for a year to 3 years. Mileage ranged from 31 to 575,000 on the trucks Never had a minutes problem or breakdown. This included Petes, Volvos and Freightliners. Any truck system will sooner or later require repair or service. In my personal experience the autos I drove never had any issues. Maybe I was just lucky. lol

If you would like to be the owner of a 2010 Cascadia auto shift that has likely been rode hard and hung up wet by any number of drivers then I would say go for it.

If you really want info from current drivers I would try asking on the USX facebook page. I think that it's a bad deal because of all the talk of USX having massive issues with their autos being the reason they switched back to manual. I wouldn't lease purchase one of those time bombs. I'm not saying autos are bad I happen to love em, but I wouldn't want one that has been through the USX experience.

Thanks. I was just wondering if any of them went through with it. What the experience was.

I've also heard that they got some manuals in by mistake and as they say the rest is history. I can't say that's why or not, just talk that I have heard and not from a USX yard

Are you referring to the fact that USX has purchased only 10 speed manuals for the last three years? Only a few autos left at this time.
