That's the reason I don't wanna come back to USX...They decide what is comfortable for you to idle.

So why will your APU only run for 6 hours?

Sometimes it will run longer...the shop boss said they knew it ran the batteries down quick, which is why they don't holler about the idle time.

call them EPU's is that your case Musicgal?
Yeah, because I thought an APU had an alternator to charge the electrical system as it ran

Me 2, I don't understand why the APU would run the batteries down either?? Aren't they supposed to be a self sustaining power unit to do what ever you need to in the truck without running the truck??

My APU charges my batteries. I can leave all my electrical devices on all night and soon as tap the key it fires up. You have some issues if your unit isn't charging your batteries.

Battery powered APUs depend on a battery charge, and many don't work even as well as what musicgal related. Some companies tried them and aren't bothering to repair them.

The fuel powered ones run indefinitely as long as they run.
