I would recommend the company. It's a laid back place. Make sure to get on a dedicated account. US Xpress added solo drivers to Ceva dedicated. It probably has a weekly guarantee like they have for teams.

Just an FYI to all the USX drivers out here. We got some interesting information today from payroll that we thought you should know about.

Whenever you have an empty move that you are dispatched under and you don't have any bills with it you are supposed to have your trip cover sheet followed by a blank sheet of paper with the barcode sticker on it.

This triggers document retrieval and allows you to get paid on it with no issues. Apparently anytime you send in an empty move with just the cover sheet it's a crapshoot on whether you will get paid for it. We've never had a problem in two years until last week and this week so I guess our luck ran out haha.

If you do get paid on an empty move without the blank barcode sheet it is only because one of the payroll employees happened to catch it and make sure it was paid out. The lady in payroll says this is a common issue and that many times it's not caught which means you end up on the phone to payroll wasting your time.

Empty Move = Trip Cover Sheet + Blank Sheet with Barcode Sticker

My husband was with USX in 2008 and I rode with him for a year. We had a 2005 Volvo that had scads of room in it. The terminals then had free washers/dryers, unless messed up ( oh yea the new front loaders had just come out with the HE detergeant that was supposed to be used in them) usually ended up someone had them locked up with suds.

We had some very good dispatchers back then and some very bad ones. It sounds like the usual still. The hunt for mty trailers was really fun, and a joke looking for them, so that is still going on it sounds like.

We ate a lot in the truck. Had a George Foreman, dorm refrig with the freezer (it was really old and small) and the Coleman 12v that they sell in truckstops. I read (the courtesy light overhead on the passenger side had been painted over by someone with a translucent red paint, nailpolish??, and I could read up front without it bothering the driver) and had my computer, programmed the GPS (Garmin back then), the driver tech was an infant back then, and it wasn't even worth following. Also took the notes for the load info and route solution, seal #'s, trailer #'s.

Pets, if you are at a terminal, have to stay outside, esp if you are having your truck worked on. There maybe some places you can't pickup or deliver to because of a pet, but I would imagine they shouldn't dispatch you to them either. Don't know if USX goes to Canada or not, but they do not let pets in.

You will have to pay the rider insurance which is very much monthly

She would probably have fun, but you know that the hours are really erratic and he have to get sleep when you can, because just as soon as you think you are going to bed, that load comes along to get you moving again.

We have some big news. Wife and I no longer are doing the Ceva dedicated account. Three weeks ago we got an offer to do an account that gets us home two FULL days at home. Could not resist to be home weekly.

We'll miss doing Ceva since it sent us all over the country but after almost two years we want to be home more to enjoy the money we're making. LOL :biggrin_2559:

Wanted to fill in everyone about the newest update from US Xpress. They changed their driver referral program.

    Here is the new bonus:

    Teams - $3,000

    Solo - $1,000

    CDL Students - $250

Get the details at the website the company set up:

    www.usxreferralprogram.com

Drivers who refer people get their bonus once the driver they referred deliver their first load. Its a pretty sweet deal ! Plus, for the drivers joining the company there is often a sign on bonus, a bonus for getting on a dedicated account and for recent CDL students tuition reimbursement.

So for those of you who plan on joining US Xpress, hook up your favorite driver with FREE money ! :biggrin_25514:
