Starting November 1st US Xpress training has been changed to the following:

Students must complete 175 hours with your trainer unless your a C-1 Student(not sure what that means)
After the 85 hours then you can go into Super Solo or Team status with your trainers.

If your a C-1 Student then you must complete 215 hours with your trainer.
After 105 hours then you can go into Super Solo or Team status with your trainers.

My wife and I when we did training 2 years ago only had to do 120 hours.

    To Sum It Up: Yikes ! ! ! ! ! ! !

From what Ive been hearing they are going to loose a lot of trainers over this. Trainers that are bad at math. Ill make more off a second week of teaming than I will in lost upgrade bonuses. I doubt seriously that the students will get any better training out of the extended hours though. On the other hand Im pretty burned out after a single week of teaming, 2 weeks might even stretch me to the limit. Im about to take a month off anyway, getting burned out and winter is around the corner.

Big Blue Peter I agree that the extra time probably won't do much for the students. The only ones that really benefit are usx and the trainers since they may make a little more. But like you said, that can also lead to being burnt out faster too

US Xpress has a few customers whose loads are considered critical and must get to their destination on time. It's important any new driver know who these are because the company can get anal if its late and they don't always tell you that its an important load until its too late.

The turnover at US Xpress for the month of November was.............. 122%...................Yikes ! ! ! ! :biggrin_2556: lol

I always preach the gospel of Dedicated Accounts and while the turnover rate at other divisions (solo/team OTR, Regional) went as high as 128%, the turnover rate for Dedicated Accounts was the lowest at 112%.

Just got done listening to the driver info line message from Eric Fuller & Lisa Pate. Here's the most important bits.

    1. Buying an additional 2200-2300 tractors for 2015 which will result in usx having the newest fleet of tractors in the industry

    2. Starting in January they will be replacing older trailers with new ones at a rate of 200 per month. The trailers will have skirts, trailer tails and most importantly tracking systems. The trailer tracking should be a game changer because it will significantly cut down on hunting for empty trailers.

If they actually use the trackers, that'd be great. They're only, replacing about a quarter of their trailers tho, I doubt it's going,to reduce the amount of fruitless empty hunts.

I was *just* telling my trainer about a week ago that with all the available technology, it seems silly that we have to drive around searching for an empty trailer. Glad to see something in the direction of saving us time on this. Even if it's only a small portion of the fleet, eventually (yes, I know it will be years down the road) they will all have them. Ya gotta start somewhere.
