These companies will probably hire you and run you through their refresher. If they do, stick with them 12 months at least.

    Western Express
    Ozark Motor Lines
    Paschall Truck Lines
    R.E. West
    Schneider

I am only 57. Most of the companies require you to be 23. It is legal to discriminate against anyone under the age of 40. I have to get up and look myself in the mirror so don't complain about being only 22, you little whipper snapper.

Having no experience since you were in CDL school will not matter to most trucking companies. The truth is having your license doesn't mean you have any idea of how to drive a truck. Any company that hires you will require you to be able to drive to their standards before allowing you to take off solo. You will have to take a physical and a drug test. At 22 you should have no problem with at least one of those. The drug test is also easier for you youngsters. That filling a cup up gets harder to do as you age.

The driving test will be the only thing that is a bit difficult. Just remain calm. As a pilot they tell us that in a emergency the first thing that you do is fly the plane. That is the same for trucking. Drive the truck. Never let it drive you. They are not going to care if you grind a gear or two during your test. Every truck shifts differently. Every trucker ever borne has ground a gear. Relax. Make sure your mirrors are adjusted and drive safely. Slow down. Come to complete stops and make sure your trailer does not roll back. Turn left and right into the correct lanes. Do not turn too fast or too soon. Let your front wheel of your rear tandems reach the point you want to turn into before you turn.

If someone pulls into the place you need to be, smile and wait for them to move. Do not get upset. The company wants you to past the test. They will let you retest.

And if you can't get hired there, there are other companies. If not, run for President. It takes no skills for that job, it seems.

The key to getting hired is saying:

    You don't drink
    Don't smoke
Want to stay out months at a time...don't even need to go home.
    Hate pets
    Hate thieves & druggies.

    .....you now have their attention...

Lie lie lie all the way to that dotted line.

Usx considers trucking school 1 yr exp BTW....don't let some punk recruiter lie to you.

    You out lie them!

I actually just submitted an application for Knight Transport. They have a CDL training program for people with a CDL but need training, and they state that you get paid while doing the " refresher " ( I know it won't be much, but it's better than nothing ). The only thing is for their hiring areas, they had Pennsylvania and West Virginia, but I couldn't seem to find if they're hiring out of Maryland..

Got orientation this monday the 10th in Shippensburg PA. Wish me luck:yes2557:. I'm confident I can pass the road test, even after not driving for 7 months.

Road test is a joke. Can you turn the truck? Can you back it up without hitting trailers 50 feet apart? You're in. Just don't be nervous. Don't worry about your shifting either. Been in the truck with testing students that couldn't find half the gears, still passed.

US Xpress knows you might make mistakes but what's most important to them is your a safe driver. Don't hit anything & you'll pass. My wife stalled the truck because she was nervous but she still passed.
