I will try to keep this short but informative as well. My wife and I have decided that we want to team drive and we like what we see with US Xpress. I have my CDL and basically no experience (2 weeks OTR), and my wife plans to get her CDL after we move. Currently we live in Sacramento, CA but we're moving to the Topeka, KS area in the end of June. My question is should I try to get on with US Xpress now while in California and then request time off at the end of June to move or should I wait until after we move to Kansas and then try to both get on at the same time? I obviously need as much experience as possible but my concern is will I be able to get time off to get home to help with the move (@ 1 week)? Obviously we want the easiest route but I want to know whats realistic. Sorry if I ramble... Thanks for any advise!
Need Some Advise Please.

Probably would be best to move and then look for work. I have a friend in Joplin, MO who hires teams right out of school.....pm me and I will give you their ph number if interested.

Work the job you have til the end of june, otherwise you have to go through the cluster$*# that is USXs training program...

I should clarify, I'm not currently driving, I work at a Harley Dealership. My 2 week "trip" in December was ended because the trainer I was assigned to couldn't stay awake while he was driving so I freaked out a little and left the truck. Probably wasn't the best decision I ever made but just freaked me out because it was a regular thing with him. I know I'll have to go through training wherever I go, I would expect nothing less. I'm more concerned about still being able to drive to their standards, being out of the truck for 90 days now.

If you get on now with the company..... see if you can train your wife when she joins USX. Vinsanity would have a better idea how that would work.

I don't think USX hires solos out of California. The only issue with your lack of experience will be how long it's been since you graduated. Don't wait too long. 90 days is around the cut off time for most companies. You get four days off for home time. Sometimes you can stretch that to five. If you take a week off you will probably have to vacate the truck and be re-seated when you return.USX requires at least a year experience before you can be a trainer. I hear that may change shortly.
