The only way you'll get close to getting home weekends is on a dedicated route. I suggest calling to find out what is available. The pay varies on those.

I did talk to a guy who went home weekends on NE Regional but he wasn't making any money. Keep in mind you may sit waiting for a load heading your way.

Take a look at Xpress Global Systems at our terminal in Tunnel Hill...if it's not too far to travel.

Why would anyone want to live in a truck for 2 weeks then get home (can you really call it that?) for 2 days then leave again? I could see it if I was single and wanted to see the country. The only way I would live in a tin can for that long at a time would be to bring home big bucks and less than a grand a week sure isn't big $$$. Why do truckers put up with this? It's just big business creating a slave industry because people will do anything for anything. My dad drove truck in the late 70's and early 80's but he was bringing in 1500-2000 a week even back then... today that would be comparable to bringing home 3-4 grand a week. It seems like truckers haven't got a raise in over 25-30 years.

Yeah, recruiters aren't going to not recruit you for bothering them. Also, you usually don't talk to the same person outside of dispatch twice with this company, so you really don't need to worry about how calling too often will reflect on you.

I pulled for usx for 6 months, I managed to get home far to often usually every other week, my fleet manager hated it and eventually hated dealing with me, now I live in Missouri and most of my loads went thru my house so I would park a day or 2 at home and still make my delivery, I enjoyed that I got "lost" in the fleet in that dispatch left me alone asking as I wasn't screwing up, most weeks I ran 2800 miles plus, averages 600 after taxes and was all over the northeast as a company usx is massive, weekend dispatch is questionable at best and often clueless. Repairs are a nightmare expect at least 2 days for most shop work to be safe 4/5 if you need a new truck there are better companies especially with your experience, usx trucks do not idle if it's over 40 or under 70 no apus in the fleet they run a mix of trucks most likely you'll end up in a freight liner or international they both have issues, usx is a c average company they try to work with you so long as things go there way , they have a floating pays scale no one told me till half way thru orientation longer runs pay less, hazmat is payed separate from mileage pay also and detention/stop pay they will fight you on always they aren't overly concerned with your home time and will often run you 800 miles out just to bring you back 300 miles at a time when you want home. Know what your about to step in and you'll be fine with them every company ##### on drivers most lie usx is fairly honest about what you'll be standing in at least lol

You live in Chattanooga, they have a terminal in tunnel hill. They have guys running day cabs out of there. I'd try to get on there if possible. If not one of the dedicated accounts are your best bet. I live in ga and run on their dedicated DG account and get home all the time and every weekend and holiday. We work hard but make good money and get home a lot. Staying away from home all the time just isn't a good way for a family man to live. I work my ### off to provide, and I don't want to watch my kids grow up through pics and vids. So if I was you I'd try dedicated if you can't get on a day cab acct.

I have a question about USXpress. Are there many drops/deliveries? I just want a lot of miles OTR, from point A to point B. I considered other companies, but decided against them when I found out there were a lot of stops for each load. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)
