Anyone care to answer some, or any of these? I'd appreciate it. I have about 19 months experience between Schneider & PTL. I do solo OTR dry van, and am willing to cover the whole country, although Northeast is my least favorite area so far. I do like how PTL gives you the option to opt out of Northeast, if you like. I'm used to staying out at least 4 weeks/home 4 days off. I'm just about always on time (unless its out of my control, breakdowns, ect) and prefer to drive 400-680miles everyday, or using my whole 70 before having to sit alot, if they can keep me running like that. So here goes a bunch of questions..
Estimate of what an experienced driver's pay would start out at?
Average miles per week?
What is the age range of the trucks? What year are the oldest?
Do they have APU's.. all, some, or none?
Are pretty roomy? I'm 6'2" and have quite of bit of stuff I like to bring along
What speed are they governed at?
Can I drive all 48 states, or just eastern half? (I live in Georgia)
Is there a quarterly bonus program? Details? How about raises?
Do trucks have EZ pass/Pre Pass? And are there a lot of toll roads you have to avoid?
What is breakdown/layover and detention pay? Are they good about actually paying the detention?
Rider/pet policy?
Do you sit a lot on weekends, waiting for receiver's to open on Mon?
How many trucks does US Xpress have? Big company?
How are the Terminals? And how many are there?
That's about all I can think of at the moment. May have to come back later with a few more. I prefer answers from drivers, over recruiters ya know. Thanks in advance if you answer any of that.
Considering US Xpress. I have Questions.

Why don't you stay where you are at until you have 2-3 years experience? Jumping from mega to mega, they are all going to be the same. Low pay, treat you bad, never get you home. My advice is to stick it out until you get some experience, then get on with a good trucking company.
HalpinUout, The Challenger and Hard Worker Thank this. -
South East Carriers does not do the Northeast. Trucks have APU's and plan on lots of West Coast turns. One yr. experience required.

You should check into Millis Transfer. They have a terminal in Cartersville Ga.

So you left Schneider to go work at PTL and now maybe USX? Why?
-
After researching other companies in these forums, PTL really isn't as bad as their reputation is, but I believe I can do better. Btw no accidents or tickets, since being here. I'm more careful, and feel a lot more safe in my 2012 Prostar, it just drives and handles so much better than those p.o.s. Columbia's I drove at Schneider. Schneider was like my trucking bootcamp learning experience -
I can tell you USX has some of the newest equipment of any mega carrier. I was a trainer there many moons ago. Their equipment has always been top notch. I have no idea about APUs and the such as when I was there no one had APUs. While my experience there wasn't bad it was too long ago to matter now. I left there 9 years ago.
Good luck with whatever you decide.Hard Worker Thanks this.
