I would say try Arnold. Their only terminal is now in Grand Prairie, Texas. They pay pretty well. They've been on a serious re imaging campaign since their recent "split" from us xpress. Although we have very little interaction with us xpress, they are the majority owner but Arnold operates under their own policies and run their own equipment, breakdown dept, dispatch, and soon to be payroll as well. They've replaced the majority of the fleet with 2015 models and will be working on replacing trailers next. They do not run APUs (with the exception of a few trucks that came from LinkAmerica merger) and have the same idling 28/70 threshold as USX. It's really tolerable and I came from being APU pampered.

This is their pay scale. This is straight forward pay and not hidden into any per diem. They also pay variable mileage and mpg bonuses which are easily obtainable amd accounts for an extra 5 cpm. Mileage bonus is paid out monthly and safety/mpg bonus is quarterly[IMG]

USX is a joke… If you plan on going in as a solo driver you will be nothing more than a shuttle driver for the teams and I'm speaking from experience I spent nearly 3 years with themand their operations department is without a doubt extremely dysfunctional they all sit on the third floor of that fancy building in Chattanooga and yet none of them know what is going on between one another in other words the right-hand don't know what the left hand is doingand I saw that firsthand as well

The only time I have ever handed a load off at USX is when I knew I couldn't make the delivery and asked for a repower. Don't know what your problem was.

Good evening, it sounds to me that you are helping people on this site with knowledge through your experience of the business. That is good to know my point of view. I have retired from the military and will have an income coming for the rest of my life, all I have to do is keep living and loving people. I drove the Rig in training for the first time and it was AWESOME. I have the application filled out for US Express, I will also put applications in for other companies. I will graduate at the end of November. I will lose pratice time for VA appointments but I have worked hard in the Army for 21 years and I want what is rightfully mine because of my injuries. Truck driving seems easy from the outside but once you get behind the wheel, you really have to pay close attention and use every square inch of your brain to stay alive on the highway. I want to say thanks for the hard work that all truckers do.

Good morning. I live in Kansas. What company do you drive for? As a new driver I might not get everything. As I look at companies to begin my career, there are things that I am looking for: I do want to drive OTR, rider program, pet policy, and no slip seating. It seems to me that US Express will provide me exactly what I am looking for.

If someone knows any other trucking companies that will provide me the items in my post, please let me know. I want to head off to my orientation in the beginning of January.

If US xpress already fits your criteria then go for it. That's all that's going to matter. Reading reviews on here will not do any good. if people tell you how bad USX sucks, it doesn't mean it will suck for you. I worked there for 2 years and have no complaints at all. It's only going to turn out the way you allow it to.

I thought you responded to me and asked a question also. I was just answering it, oops, maybe I got it wrong. Which terminal are you out of? As I said in my post in earlier, I truly think US Express will be my first trucking company because of its 3 things that are in my likes.

Wife and I've been here for almost 2 years. Going to make $60k each this year. Our home terminal is Markham, IL. It's mostly a team company but solo drivers can make money here. Best way is to get on a dedicated account. Stay away from Dollar General, Family Dollar and the rest of the Dollar accounts.

This company is very laid back. They don't push sleep apnea, lease purchase or any of the other bs going on in this industry.

Our biggest complaint about USX is that they don't always hire the brightest people.

I agree with you on that one truckduo. They turned out the lights and left the building a long time ago.
