Considering going to US Xpress, how is US about being able to get on regional or a dedicated account right out of training. I live in NC near Burlington; what would be some good accounts to get on? How does US do home time, is it a good company that will get you home

You can get on a dedicated account after getting your CDL. There is a thread with the list of accounts available.
-
How is the OTR division as far as home time & miles
-
I don't recommend OTR because it's working hard & not smart. Their more concerned with covering all loads and less in ensuring each driver does 3,500 miles for the week.
One day off for every week out. Maximum 4 days off in a month. -
Pfft OTR is working hard not smart? Speak for yourself LOL. I do very well running 48 states, but then Im a trainer too.

BigBluePeter, meant no disrespect.
If all a driver cares about is making money and not the romanticized aspect of trucking then they should get on a dedicated account.
With OTR there are too many negative variables. For example live unloads(some can take hours), searching for an empty trailer, difficult and unsafe places to dock, delivering to multiple stores(Tractor Supply, Pep Boys, etc.), doing grunt work(short runs), delivering to the middle of no where off of a dirt road in the country.
Its no secret I'm an advocate for dedicated accounts. In our short time at USX we've done OTR, Reefer and dedicated. We've always strived to work smarter and not harder. With each move the job has been easier and easier. By far dedicated has been the easiest money we've made in trucking.
Dedicated is less stressful, more predictable, and most importantly more consistent paychecks.
The best example I can give you on why to get on a dedicated account is last winter US Xpress had a retention bonus that was a few thousand dollars to encourage drivers to not jump ship due to slow down in freight due to winter. Dedicated drivers did not qualify for that bonus. When I inquired about it, I was told it was because dedicated drivers make more money than OTR drivers. That right there my friends is why I say what I say. -
What would be some good companies to start at for dedicated jobs, I live in NC near Burlington & US Xpress doesn't anything dedicated near me except for dollar general
-
They have dedicated accounts other than Dollar General.
-
I went online & it doesn't say anything
-
Of course their not going to have it online. You have to speak with a recruiter.
