Thanks, man. I kinda hoped you would chime in on this one. Makes me feel a little better. I've read many of your posts here in the USX forum & I value your input. Hopefully we'll get to meet up some day. I'll be leaving out of Anderson, IN on Sunday afternoon headed for Springfield. Wish me luck! Stay safe.

Good luck Ziegy ! Welcome to US Xpress
My wife and I are home every Wednesday and Thursday, we leave the truck at the Markham, IL terminal. We don't live far from there. If your ever there....hit me up.
That thing is just your typical corporate America covering their ###. Don't worry about it.
Last winter a buddy of mine decided to bobtail to his teammates house. The truck got stuck in the snow and they had to have a tow truck come out. US Xpress didn't charge them for it. That same driver accidentally ripped off his bumper and never got charged for it or put on his DAC. lolZiegy Thanks this. -
skootertrashr6 and Ziegy Thank this.

With that said, I've only had my CDL-A for 6 days. Maybe after several years I'll feel that the company I'm working for has paid me enough, too. Then I'll be more agreeable to allowing them to take some of it back. But I doubt it. -
Ziegy, truckers do bend over and take it then ask for more. That's why our industry is so screwed up.
Check out the CR England threads.....10 drivers will say they regret going there then the 11the driver will ask how much he can make if he goes there. It never ends. -
TruckDuo and bullhaulerswife Thank this.

Hey there Ziegy. I'm in the same position as you, and have a lot of the same concerns you have. And I got the same payroll deduction doc you got a few days ago. I had concerns about it too, though my take on it was that they are probably positioning themselves with it for selective enforcement in more blatant cases, such as people that have been warned on issues previously, etc. TruckDuo's post kind of illustrates that too, with his examples of driver mistakes where payroll deduction was not enforced.
I understand your concern about employee mistakes becoming financial too. I saw some shameful things overseas done by foreign employers to their employees, when the mistakes were a result of misunderstanding and poor employee training . . . things the employer should have been responsible for. Anyway, it's something we have to live with, and a good list of things to be aware of and avoid.
I have a background somewhat like yours, and this is certainly a new reality for me too. I can't say that getting a document like the payroll deduction doc is a good way to start off this new relationship. But I do realize that there are a lot of boneheads in this industry, that have done bonehead things. While in some ways we all suffer as a result, I see it also as my chance to stand out and excel at doing my new job professionally and reliably.
I too am leaving on the 'Hound Sunday afternoon, for Jacksonville orientation. Good luck to you. -
There are a lot of boneheads out here. The PTL driver who drove into a park is a good example. He's been all over the news the past few days. Their bringing in engineer's to figure out how to get the tractor trailer out. Lol
