Hello Folks,
I am scheduled for orientation "AGAIN"...this next Wednesday in Markham, IL. Did I go and make a bad choice? I mean I've been with them before and I am hoping things are better there as opposed to Last Year.
Any word on the Company environment at present would be appreciated.
TruckDuo, China, BigBluePete.....anybody?
Thanks in advance.
Peace!
Oh Crap! I went and Said Yes!

If you were there and now you're not, what does that tell you?
taxihacker66, jbatmick, albert l and 1 other person Thank this. -
From all the posts on here, USX is a good team company, not solo.
You still have time to be rescued, unless you want teaming.
President Ronald Reagan's wife, has for decades, walked around babbling, "Just Say No!" so I guess her message isn't reaching everyone.
2 yrs. experience; there's tons of good companies for you. Some with refrigerator/freezer, satellite TV, XM radio, inverter, Tripac APU.
Now I won't be able to sleep tonight; that song is stuck playing in my mind, "Rock Island Line" by Johnny Cash.

All good replies. I guess The fact that I had to leave due to a shoulder problem and they are at present the only one's saying "YES C'mon Back!", it lured me in. I had a feeling things wouldn't have changed.
I am not well suited for the Team gig and prefer solo.
I guess I should have taken that Cement Truck gig when it was offered to me!!
Peace all.taxihacker66, NavigatorWife and Chinatown Thank this. -
We drivers seem to do this a lot, don't we? There must be a Return Gene in our system...maybe it comes from drinking truck stop coffee and eating all those sticky buns?
taxihacker66 and Chinatown Thank this. -
That's funny DenaliDad! I was just thinking the same thing. I am going to see what this recruiter has to say to me Tomorrow and if I don't like what I hear...Well, I'm thinking Chinatown's list of companies is gonna get some attention from me. Dartco, is Hiring right across the River in Davenport, IA. I hear they have decent standards.
Peace.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I thought USX no longer hired solo drivers?

Hirschbach has a very attractive lease/purchase deal...they charge 99.9 cpg for fuel, no matter what the cost. I suppose it has to be in-network, but I'm not sure about that.

Shame you're going to orientation this coming week. My wife and I did road tests at Markham last week.
What did you not like about the company last year ?
People think US Xpress is only good for teams but solo drivers can make money here. The company has a lot of dedicated accounts that are good for Solos.
Taylor Farms - Home daily
Wal-Mart, Meijer - Home 2 days a week
RR Donnelley - Drop & hook
Those are just a few off the top of my head.
Wife and I are happy here.
One thing that sucks for Solo drivers here is that they get the older trucks for the most part when they start. Those trucks breakdown more, not as clean, some things in it are worn out, etc.Last edited: May 3, 2015
