All companies that don't want you to idle in subfreezing, and scorching weather deserve an carbon footprint award!

    guess you missed this part

    the use of on-board heaters

and yes they do work all the way down to -18

only thing now is they have to figure out how to start the engine in the morning

I wonder if USX will install APU's on their trucks as that would save fuel. Glad to see USX is doing everything they can to lower emissions. Now if others would follow suite.

Talking with an O/O friend that has a Rigmaster APU it saves some on fuel. Nice thing is he can plug in a block heater, nuke his oatmeal and make his coffee. He doesn't have a fridge.

The newer trucks with the big battery packs have me wondering what happens enviromentally to the batteries when they crap out. If they are lithium? Guess what Russia, and Chile are getting extremely rich off of lithium. And they are doing just like OPEC.

Time will tell, but-in the long run -APU's are not the answer. In my opinion anyways.

I almost wish shore power was available, but it"s just not feasable.

    Someday a battery system--that works - Perhaps !!
