Hey yall, I'm "geterdone" or the "cableguy" if you like. I worked for the cable company for 4 years so I guess it fits. Glad to be out of that work and into something I have always wanted to do. My dad drove for 25+ yrs. and my cousin is still going on 45+ yrs. Im 33yrs. old and from Ohio but soon to live in South Carolina hopefully.

I have seen alot of new truckers keep post on there experience through there training and such. I thought I would do the same as well. I have done alot of reviewing of what I have ahead of me. I have found both positive and negative comments on this field of work and these companies. So I feel it is important that we get true testimony from people in the field and starting the field. So thats what I plan on doing the best that I can.

I will be attending the C-1 school in Fort Wayne, IN on the 20th of Sept. (Unless it is filled with prior new hires then I will be pushed back until available. Should know by next week.) And yes I will give good detail on the motel we stay at cause I read some nasty stuff on that place. I called the motel to confirm the stories and they say that those stories was months ago and all is well. We will see, keep a positive attitude either way and will go prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

I am pre-hired with USA Truck I guess you say. Hopefully I stay with USA cause I have heard of alot of students being dropped from USA an going to PAM. So will see what happens but prefer USA.

So thats it for now I guess I promise my post will not be as long as this one in the future. I wanted to introduce myself and describe what I will be into for the next couple months.

Anyone starting on the 20th of Sept. in Fort Wayne, IN would be cool to hear from ya. Ok see yall in the next post I guess.

CA GUY...I'm from Ohio as well (currently watchin THE Ohio State University vs. Miami), leaving for Ft. Wayne in the afternoon 9/12 starting at C1 9/13. Been pre-approved # USA and like you I have read and re-read multiple posts stating pros & cons about the road we are about to travel. I am of the opinion that it "is what it is" and I can be successful if I give it 100%. I'm a lttle older than you (42) and have been an HVAC service tech for my whole career. Time to do something that I have wanted to do snce I was in my 20's. I wll post about the hotel (lol) when I arrive.

Good luck to you...hope to see you there....I wll be the tall guy (6'7").

Hey Harry, cool to hear from ya. I agree also that you have to make the best of it and do your best and look foward to greener fields if is tough. But on the good side maybe it will be a great experience, fun, educating and a good company and program.

Im an Irish fan and they blew it today....ohwell. Hey I'll look for ya, you should be easy to find at 6'7" lol.

    Until then good luck aswell.

Hey y'all, been a few weeks since my last post and I got to tell ya it has been a good last few weeks. I have completed C1 training and graduated with a class-A CDL. Woo hoo!!! Yippee!!! Everything from the school, instructors, classmates and even the motel was great. I don't see how anyone can have anything bad to say about the program that Drivers Solutions has set up with C1 and these trucking companies.

The hotel was not the nicest in the world but it did the job. Come prepared and you will be fine. Your classmates are the main population and everyone gets along and looks out for each other. The motel staff was friendly and helpful. There is a nice grill in the courtyard provided by the motel so you can cook up some good stuff. Remember the grill is all that is provided, all accessories you need to bring (charcoal, lighter fluid, tongs, food, etc.). Kinda boring there allot of the time so makes good for studying although the weekends are sure to bring entertainment. Just set you a chair outside and away you go, lol.

The school is great, the instructors are all very cool, nice people (just don't be an idiot and piss one off and you will learn allot) and are 100% dedicated to teaching you the skills to drive a Big Truck. Although behind the wheel time is not the greatest, the time you do have will be very educational. They are strictly there to get you a CDL so don't go in expecting to learn how to be a successful trucker cause you wont learn much. Ask questions though if your curious about something and they will give you the best info they can or get it for you.

Well thats about it for now I am at home and my next step is orientation with USA Truck in a couple weeks. I promised an honest no BS description of DS and C1 and I have given it that way. I hope this is helpful for all up and coming students of DS and C1.

    Until next c-y'all
