@djtrype I asked these questions as I was awaiting response from my recruter on hiring approval. She had already done a full background check on me. Sorry, I didn't realize that by asking such questions I was impeding your inability to JUDGE me accurately. Second of all, where on earth did I say that my previous employer would not rehire me? I clearly stated that I worked at two good friends farms. I grow quite weary of repeating myself. Which I now have had to do three different times in this thread. My last employer would obviously rehire me had he not shut down the farm he was running and went back to work full time himself. In this economic climate, farming isn't exactly making people a living. So, sure, IF, and I do mean IF I do get sent home, Ill be sure to blame myself. Thanks for that. Your utter words of encouragement are just so, so inspiring.... You must be bored......

If all your ducks are in a row you should have no reason to be sent home. From reading your posts here you sound like you have been able to provide everything have asked so that should help a lot. They wont have to go digging to find stuff out. Although they will dig but you seem to be able to back up your experience. That counts the most really.

Well, they did my psp check today and conducted a phone interview with me. Got confirmation information for greyhound. Someone is supposed to get in touch with previous employer. So far, so good. I leave next Tuesday. Everything else is no problem. Pass drug test. Ive driven straight and super 10's. So, unless they toss me in a pesky auto, I shouldn't have a problem passing a road test. One thing I didnt ask em, I have a valid d.o.t. physical. Only 3 months old. Just had a new one done. Will I still have another physical at orientation?

Man that is up in the air. Some carriers will not make you take another one due to the fact that you have had it in the last 6 months. Some say every driver has to have a new one. Thats soley up to USA. Do you still have the long form? If not they will make you get a new one cuz they have to have the long form for their driver file on you. It sounds like once you get to orientation you will be verified already. If they are already doing all the checks on you they will know of an issue before you get on the bus I would think.

Thats good. That will be up to USA then. They might just make you drug test then. Probably an agility test if they do that. It really sounds like they are trying to make it a for sure deal before you ever get to orientation though. I dont know why all the companies dont do that. They could save a lot of money in bus fair that way. I have seen the number of people that get the boot from orientation from a mega carrier and they paid to have them bussed in.

Ya, thats what Ive been seeing too. I didnt want to get 500 miles from home to getbsent home for any reason. Ive got four kids, so this needs to be a sure bet. Ive asked recruiter and the person that did the phone interview, "Will I have another background check at orientation?", and Ive been told multiple timea that no theyve already got that complete. Ill pass the drug test, no problem. Little nervous about road test, but not much. Physicals done, but even if they do another.one, shouldnt be a problem. At this point I can't see why they'd have me sent home anyway. Probably worryin for nothin. Even if I showed any problem with the road test, worse case scenario, they'll just throw me in a truck with a trainer, right? Not saying I.would have a problem, I just always plan for.worst case scenario.

You should be good. The employment verification should be the biggest thing being that they dont have the final say so on that. The insurance company deams you able to be insured. I would think that would be the worst case scenario myself. If they go with a trainer thats what you will have to do. Most companies would make you take a CDL refresher coarse and then go with a trainer so if they will get you in a truck with what you have, run with it. You need the verifiable experience to get to a better carrier down the road. I saw all the tickets you have had from the past also. Just remember that if you want to stay a truck driver, that piece of plastic is the most important thing you will ever have. Keep it protected. I have been VERY lucky with mine. Attorneys have kept mine clean in the past. I drove in the oilfield for a few years and when it was booming in my area DOT was all over us all the time. Just watch your back.

Disclaimer: It's been over a year since I was employed by USA Truck so my information is old.

Last I heard USA Truck is self insured, if this is still true there is no insurance company to satisfy, just an umbrella company that handles their paperwork. Don't make more out of this background check then it is. A think there is a company that provides all of this to USA Truck, Criminal and driving record, then there is hireright/DAK FOR THE CDL information. If all of this is as you put on the application your in business, if not have fun flipping burgers at micky dee's.

Perhaps the information I should have given y'all as well... I hold a bachelors in psychology, can frame homes, as well as program cnc milling and lathe machines. I was a machinist until big 3 gave out and massive lay offs began in 2001. I got into building trades and framing million dollar homes in Northville, MI until 2006 and housing market gave out. Suddenly million dollar homes weren't selling. I worked for Pulte Homes and they took off runnin out of Michigan! I am in trucking because I have decided this as a choice of something I would really love to do. But believe this, I have plenty more I can do than "flip burgers at micky dees". Save your sarcasm.... I have decided on this because it seams drivers are in demand. A proffesion that isnt as market sensitive as some of the other things I have worked at. Please, If you have nothing to offer but judgement and sarcasm, save it for another thread. Save it for someone else.
