Hello y'all! I decided on USA TRUCK to finally start driving with a carrier. I'll tell you, all the "heres why/heres why not" is ver confusing! I have some.questions;#1 What sort of background check does the recruiter actually do? Does she do a full background check on you before sending you that bus ticket or is it something they do at orientation? Don't want to go all the way to Van Buren just to get sent home over some old crap I got into.#2 What is current detention pay? Breakdown pay? And do they pay for deadhead miles?#3 Is this a good company to work for? I have seen a lot of.pros and cons and quite frankly has my.choice terrifying!#4 no dui's or reckless, completely clean driving record. I drove for a farm for cash for two years, but not verifiable. If USA TRUCK is not the way for me.to go, and Ive heard all the opinions on SWIFT, then what company SHOULD I look into?Thank y'all in advance....

Once you're at orientation they'll begin the full background check.
Once they discover the "old crap" you got into they'll send you home - at your expense.
This will usually be within 2 or 3 days of the orientation process. -
Background: No armed robbery, rape, murder. You can't be a felonious person. Some of this freight is expensive. They need drivers. Give only what they ask. Don't volunteer information.

Well, I aint killed raped or robbed anyone!

They do a background check at orientation. As long as you are honest with your application you shouldn't have anything to worry about... You'd be amazed how many people skip a few things thinking they'll be ok just to find out that their background check came back with the items they didn't want to disclose on their application.
They pay for all miles the truck runs... Deadhead and loaded. They don't pay actual miles but practical (or so they say I think).
2010-2011 The Breakdown pay was $150? a day but the first day and the last day don't count.
I survived my full year without any scares and I believe others have as well. If you keep an open mind and stay positive you can get through it easy enough. From my experience and what I've read on here the first 6 months usually go by smoothly and after then it can go downhill. All depends on what happens and how lucky you are.
Are there better companies out there to start your career? Sure! But you have to keep looking or choose USA and begin your career. If you quit USA early, its only money .Tnman03 Thanks this. -
Thanks GM. Somethin I just thought about.... Somone told me not to disclose anything that was mkre than 10 yeats old. That when they do a background check, they only go back the 10 years. Is this true?

False! I have lived in NC for 16 years and they called me in to ask about my NY drivers license. Be honest and tell them everything. They won't find it initially but once you get to orientation they do the deep background check

They go back 10 years for employment but they do a background for your whole life. If you have a drug felony over 10 years old you are probably ok. Robbery depends if it was armed or not over 10 years old I think you might be ok but not sure. Rape or murder yea forget about it like the other guy said. They will tell you straight up if you ask. They policy is already put in place by FMCSA so you won't be able to get passed it. They have to check this stuff by law. Don't try to lie about the felony it will only hurt you. Trust what most people have told you here so far.
