Is USA Truck mostly drop and hook ,and based on you guys experience would you recommend a company with mostly drop and hook to a newbie starting out in trucking?

Sure, why not? For me, it's more about miles/week under dispatch. Sitting at a shipper or consignee for hours is a pain for sure. They're not all bad, but drop/hook keeps you rolling more per week. If the company you sign on with has miles for you. Sitting is sitting, waiting is waiting, rolling your wheels pays your bills.

We are a high percentage drop and hook. But I can't put a number on it. We are 99% no touch freight so its very seldom we do any loading/unloading ourselves. Yes, drop and hook means you should be rolling more but if the shippers/recievers haven't loaded your trailers yet, you'll still wait.
I think what you really want to look for is called "line haul" basically taking it from one yard to another. But the trouble with that is it becomes boring doing the same thing over and over.

Ozark Motor Lines is 100% no-touch freight, no NYC, no Canada and hires new CDL grads.

Schneider teams do allot of drop and hook. USA has some drop and hook. But I have had to wait long hours to be loaded. It may be no touch. But you will still wait to be loaded. I have teamed with Schneider. That truck never stops. Except for fuel, showers and food. Usually all in one stop. Also if the truck breaks down and it takes to long top repair it. They will get that team another truck super fast.

No, Mostly Georgia and back home to McCalla every day. You need to come work with us out of McCalla. 90% drop and hook and home just about every night.

From day one, I kept meticulous records. For me, 43.1% drop and hook.
