I used to work for USA Truck back in 2009 and recently decided on going back there. I had heard that you can't park your truck at a truck stop during hometime. My question is, I live in Tifton, Georgia where the only options for parking a semi are the Pilot and Love's truck stop in Tifton. My question is where would I have to park it since it's against company policy to park at a truck stop? Thanks in advance to whoever answers my question.

I also have another question, I heard from the orientation guy that you can travel past the I-35 divide into the west coast at USA Truck should you want to. Can someone working at USA Truck explain that to me in detail? Thanks again.

There's always plenty of places to park. I park in front of my house. Check with local stores and factories. Is there an ABF yard around? You store places often have room, and are more secure.
Parking at a truck stop is discouraged because of the high accident/theft rate that goes on while you are away from the truck.
As far as going west of I35? It does happen, but not too often unless you live over that way. Trouble is getting you back for hometime, or so they say.

Thanks for answering, I don't think there is an ABF yard around, would USA Truck have a list of places to park depending on where you live?

No, they aren't really picky as long as its a safe area. If you take loads through the house they want it to be a secured area though. You would need to discuss this with your DM after you have completed orientation.

Where ever you go get permission. Looking on Google Earth there are a bunch of empty lots like in the 9th Ave area. You could ask the owner. Like USA concrete they have an empty lot beside them

Preferably the company wants the truck behind a fence as secure parking but they can't always get their way. RV storage places are a good place if you have any of them around. I paid $50 a month for one up in IL before. Another time a man let me park at his small diesel shop.

Another options is to check local trucking companies. I lived near one where the owner rented spots to OTR drivers.

I also see on Google Earth a small truck stop called Solo on the corner of Tiff Ave S and E 5th St with about 20 spots. I'd trust a truck stop like that before I would a bigger one. Ask the manager.

I see Lairsey Diesel Service Shop 229-382-4919 on US41 beside the airport. It looks like a good possibility behind a fence.

The whole industrial area around the Love's looks like a bunch of possibilities.

You might have to park at a truck stop and then go spot shopping in your 4 wheeler. A little effort you'll find a regular spot.

Thanks come to think about it there's a small truck stop here at 610 Old Omega Road here that might be a good place to park. Thanks for giving me that info though.

I'm a local driver (not for usa truck) and I got to my first stop and a usa truck driver was having a hard time blind siding it in the hole he ask me to do it for him I said "no problem" I know the feeling so I hopped in the truck and WTF a automatic? to boot it was a POS the trailer had issuses too! the air kept going below the red line so the trailer locked up. not to mention the mirror wouldn't adjust. finally I pulled it out of my way and told him to call his DM. boy I was happy to get back in my 2013 KW with 35k miles. I sure felt bad for that kid

Too many new drivers don't pretrip their truck when they first get it because they are excited and want to ahul their first load. I can't stress it enough to them. Before you tell them you are ready to pull your first load. Make sure the truck is too.
Don't accept a truck that is not up to snuff.

I agree, I ended up going through 5 trainers and they all told me the same thing, to fully check the truck before you accept a load. I don't know if that was a gift or a curse to have gone through so many trainers, but I learned a lot from all of them. No I wasn't a horrible student, I have a feeling someone is going to assume that. I was "lucky" enough to be hired on by Werner back in '08 without them letting me know that they had no job available for me past training since I lived in Jacksonville, FL at the time. Werner kept asking me to take a leave of absence since I was ready to test out but they had no job available. I refused and after 5 months of being a student I was forced to take the leave of absence so I just jumped ship to USA Truck.

I'm assuming you work at USA Truck J_Frog, how long have you been there? Do you know Rick Miller, I swear out of all my trainers he made switching over to USA Truck the best decision. I learned the most from him. Just wondering but do you know why USA Truck closed down the terminals in Shreveport La and Spartanburg, SC?

Do they (USA Truck) still send people out to recover abandon trucks and force them to clean them? My first truck (9400 International) was abandoned in Augusta, SC and was trashed horribly, I ended up having to get a friend of mine to help me clean it.
