... of setting the Jake brake templete to activate the jakes only when the foot brake is applied? Seems like the idea of the Jake was so you could keep from heating your brakes up and still slow down or maintain a constant downhill speed. I know that they back pedalled the decision. But now I've begun to have some doubts about our new maintaince VP.
IMHO, quit changing things that aren't broke and fix the things that are...#headbang
What would be the purpose...

Maybe VP is looking for better mpgs and he's going to get you in the right gear for the right hill. Maybe save a citation where jakes are banned. I don't know actually.

Not that it makes any sense but I would bet it has something to do with drivers that leave the Jakes on nonstop. They were thinking if they set them up to only come on with the foot brake then they would still get some use out of them but not be running around using them all the time.
Like I said not that it makes much sense but sometimes you have to stoop down to their level to figure out what they are thinking LOLKlatu Thanks this. -
Had not heard that one yet. Lol just like the no APU on the new trucks was going to save money because of maintaining them. I now have an APU. I guess the idling in the hot and cold weather costs more?

Vandalia did this to my buddy's truck. He said not only did they do that, but he goes so slow now that Prime trucks are now passing him. He also said that going up a hill when he downshifts it kicks the truck into idle (automatics). I don't understand these new changes, but I just chalk it up to "it's another paper pushers decision that doesn't and prolly never has driven."

Thats the dumbest thing I heard. Are they doing this for all trucks (manual and auto), or just auto?
