Anybody have info on the school that Drivers solutions and USA truck use in Springfield Mo? I am looking to start at the begining of next year and the guy from DS said that would be where I go for training. Also, anything else on either USA or DS would be appreciated.

Well here is some info straight from a recruiters mouth in Ohio......

Starting pay when you are with your mentor/trainer is $350.00 per week for 4-6 weeks. Once you complete your time with your trainer and you test out or upgrade you will start at .26 cpm then from there at 6 months you will get .27 cpm and so on.

Trucks are Internations with if I am not mistaken 10 speed transmissions anything else you would like to know I will try and find out or someone can chime in.

    Take care,
    -Joe

thanks for the info. I have heard that there is a hiring freeze or at least slow down. I am working right now but will have to quit in order to do the training. with a family and everyday life expenses I want to be as sure as I can that they will hire. Not really wanting to go into debt for nothing. :biggrin_2554:

I hear ya I have been out of a job for about 5 months now, I am very close to losing my car and I am in debt for alot of money right now :biggrin_25511:. The recruiter didn't tell me anything about a hiring freeze so I am hoping when i call back to see how my app is doing I don't hear that from her mouth:biggrin_2551:...

Good luck to ya KC, please keep me/us updated would like to hear your experience.

    -Joe

btw- I have my CDL already just no experience maybe that's why she didn't mention it but I remember when I applied with Central Ref. they said they can't hire me because there are not enough trucks BUT another gentlmen called and was told his orientation date. So it looks like since I had my CDL they wouldn't be able to make money off of me :yes2557:. Like I said I hope USA dosen't try to play me :biggrin_25512:

From what hubby has heard from other drivers they have drastically slowed down on the hiring idk about a complete freeze though. He got his own truck earlier this month. First weeks check was b.s. unemployment paid us more :X We are trying something different now to see if there is a difference we originally had planned on 2 weeks out 2 days home now he's going to try 4 weeks out. They were sending him on insanely short runs with lots of time in between the last two weeks we came home Wednesday night for Thanksgiving and had to deliver a load Friday # 5am.

He didn't go through DS though so I have no info on that we went through our Job & Family Services and they paid for the schooling # Great Lakes Truck Driving School since he was on unemployment and got to apply to whereever and isn't locked into a contract with USA. He is just going to use USA as a stepping stone to get in his expierence to hopefully move onto a better paying company because for the amount USA pays you might as well work in a local factory around here. If they paid better it would be a good company because other than the $$ issue they've been pretty good considering.

    Good Luck :)

If you don't mind me asking, how many miles has he been averaging a week? We recently got out of debt so our expenses are lower. It may be one of those ride the storm out kinda things if there are at least enough miles to make the rent. :)

I have to agree with ya on that one. 1500 miles a week is definitely not worth it.

On a 40 hour week (and we know that driving isn't that) that would come to just under $10 an hour. Did they give any reason? Were they still hiring new drivers during this time? Seems to me that they would be beter off slowing down or stopping the hiring and let the current drivers say afloat.
