Heck I'm interested too but I see there is no one around to have something to say about.
I've been told (at the Volvo dealer) they are working fantastic but I would like to know from someone that drive one.

Hi from Australia guys, one of the companys I drive for here in Melbourne recently purchased 4x FH13s, 520hp and with the I Shift. Have driven a few other trucks with autos and gotta say the Volvo is by far the nicest

Isuzu autos are clunky as hell, Iveco autos are a p.o.s and I'd never buy one. We haul TV Broadcast vans with the volvos Australia wide, they'd be grossing 22t and 30t...and the Volvos do the job well. They replaced Scania R580s and R500s - I gotta admit I love the rumble of the V8s, but them 520s are quiet and good on the gas as well. We run cabovers due to some of the tight places we gotta park these trailers at sport venues, but the ride is comfy and after a 12 hour day behind the wheel - you dont feel like youve gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson :)

well this is probably best automated gearbox on market

here MAN have best software , scania have good control of gearbox and additional functions are good for use like maneuvering mode power mode and rocking mode

but by hardware volvo is far best gearbox it is fastest very comfortable shifts...

how can you compare i-shift electronics with as-tronic electronics? Wabco makes TCU boards and shift cylinders for both! I-shift shares TCU board with ZF!

There are two versions of gen-2 boards - 12V for US market and 24V for EU market.

it is not all, Scania and MB transmissions are different but anyway Wabco supplies them with TCUs.

i dont care who made what but i know that i-shift make smoothest and fastest shifts on market

that man have best gear strategy but it is too hard on clutch not as iveco but still too hard for my taste

i used to drive I-shift and 12 and 16 st ZF transmissions (newer gen and older) on EU and US trucks. Really it is difficult to feel the difference

    Hi exfarmer!

I have just joined this excellent forum and I'm neither a trucker nor an expert on I-shift but am born in Sweden so I think it is enough? I have always been interested of trucking because I use to ride with my father. But I can tell you as ponder about this gearbox it is made for hauling timber in Sweden at a gross weight about 80 ton and I think that must be enough for the USA-market in most case. I have read about this gearbox and you may be careful change gear manual. You must have enough rpm when you use manual other vice you can destroy it. In Sweden Volvo sell engines of their own make, gearbox, chassis, axles (Hendrickson) and rear ends, often as bogie but only one single axle as will drive the truck. And AB Volvo states their own engine, I-shift and rear axle is the most optimal for motor and gearbox. I think they have programmed their software for their own VED motor. If we say you want a Cummins they can reprogram so it fits. I have a test on paper but it is not mine so I can't public it. But you can be calm the I-shift is the most advanced "self thinking" gearbox today and many love it. But as our friend sundaytofar say I-shift is blind it has no eyes and sometimes a manual change of gear is in order. I can think before a hill one will change gear self before one begin to climb because I-shift perhaps change gear too early. It is only in the theory because I not have any experience driving with I-shift but please tell us how and when you change gear manual.
