Dealer told me 16" from top of bag to bottom. I replaced the air ride valve a few years ago. I have a leak in my air system. When the tanks loose pressure so do my air bags. Anyone know if there is suppose to be a check valve in that supply line? Think I need ANOTHER highth valve? any suggestions help would be appreciated. fyi the info about the holes to adjust rod is correct BUT you can bow out that rod for a little extra! My problem is a high fifth wheel, 8" and a 13'6" trailer that requires 461/2" fifth wheel height. whcih puts me at 13'7" and Norfolk Boston and Chesapeak bridge and tunnel dont like me. Norfolk is a nightmare if your 3/4" over. arrrggggghhhhhhh

    pam

Just looked at Volvos PDFs good ones but I kinda got a brain ach now. Does the 16" hold up once you do it that way?

Ugh don't bend the rod. The holes are for large adjustments. To fine tune you rotate the valve.
I would guess that you probably need a lvl valve

hi, i agree with bigdrip ,you CANT bend the rod, my vnl has 24,5 wheels and high frame 12'' , 8'' 5th wheel high ,adjusted everything as above, fixed all possible air leak!!! very important , never meassure my truck hight with hooked trailer ,have lot of nj, ny,pa,md trips and never had problem with bridges

My tractor was orriginally a Quality Carrier truck. FYI They took really good care of her. Someone told me tankers like high fifth wheels. I think I need another level valve. Thats the pits cause the one I have isnt very old

wildrose just check your air bags, air lines conected to them from the front to rear, i shaked air lines close to conectors and spray to make sure is sealed, where they are conected to air bags and air ride valve, your air dryer has check valve but i wouldnt suspect it,air ride valve is supply by air line coming of air dryer, my idea was change everything as of front air suspension in my truck, it took 2 hrs of ma spare time and 30$ spent on air lines ,conectors, tights....i would recommend this for every especially high milage truck or bought not from dealer new.......i noticed most trucks has air leak problems in theirs suspension cousing shaft out balance, whole truck vibrations as mine did, tire worn out, tranny output shaft grinding even turbo wouldnt work right cousing other problems, diffr power divider breakage etc. ,im not trying to be so smart ( maybe yes :) ) tnis what i noticed after 3 years of being truck owner....

Norfolk VA Tunnels? reject you for 13' 6.010". Can run them with most 13.6 trailers but the utility with a 46.5" 5th wheel height flunks every time. That place can be a lobster trap for that trailer.

    So question is

what causes rear air bags to deflate when main air tanks loose pressure?

Is Leveler valve the check valve in that system? The air drier?

    Fixed the leaks already.

Been too cold to play with my air pressure test tools, compressor ( in shop broke months ago) and got side tracked during warmer weather fixing Exhaust leak at EPG out / exhaust pipe in joint. Cant believe that pipe is over $100

    Thanks in advance

hi ,belive me or not but when i go to east coast im not confused for even 1/2 second if i get under some bridge or not if only says 13.6 its all good....in my truck rear air ride is supply from forward tank, 1/2 inch air line going from it to air manifold ( inside frame facing tranny ,above air tanks , has 3 1/2 inch plugs on left side and 3 1/4 plugs on right side) then from air manifold 1/2 inch air line is going to air ride valve( supply) , air ride valve has 2 1/2 inch supply ports ( left and right set of bags) so 1/2 inch air line supply front air bag by 3 way fitting( one side screwed in to the top of air bag ,on supply from valve ,one to supply rear air bag) ,as you is there is many things, air lines and fittings you need to figure out ,it took me planty of time tooo..... look on my post in thread " centramatics balancers" how i and my mechanic found broken air bag and fitting , i couldnt found them for months !!!!!!!!

btw, centramatics balancers is not my thread ,i just post an answer for somebody.....another maybe helpful info is that air ride valve has 1/4 inch plug and air line going to solenoid which you operate from the cab with switch to drop and rise the suspension , from solenoid air line is hooked to air dryer i belive.....on the beginning i tried spray bottle but effects were so so, thaths why i replaced all the air lines and possible fittings ,it was much easier ,cost is very low and you can easy do yourself, now im 100% sure there is absolutely no leak in the system......
