sounds like your bags are to low or not inflated on the rear. my 98 did the same when the air line froze to the air bags this winter.

if you have truck w/o ECAS, you cant rise ride height, becouse leveling valve linkage is not ajastable and you have tp get one longer.

If your truck is with ECAS you can use RECALL/STORE button to change ride hight +-1 inch.

I had a similar problem, the leveling valve or it's bracket had broken, thought I was eating a tranny in an '07 780. If you are getting the run around from the dealership, a good alignment shop should be able to set it for you.

    thanks for reply and tips!!!
i guess new air ride level valve solved my problem, i did it yesterday ,replaced for new air ride valve and some known shop set the proper height, i drove 700 miles today and..... no shaking ,no griding, shifting up/down no problem and smoth click, click, nearest volvo service told me how to set proper height and mechanic did so...great results!!!! recommend for everyone
proper height is very important and dependable on your tire size, frame height, to set this correct just need wrench and measure tape and takes 5 minutes ,done!!

What is the proper height ! for 24.5 inch tires, Do you measure from the top of the fifth wheel to ground or some ware on the frame to the ground, just asking.

Had the same trouble with a 2000 Volvo 770. Horrible noise out of the transmission. The leveling valve is between the rears on the driver's side. All you have to do is slide the rod to the appropriate height. The rod does move and you can just use a hose clamp to get it tight. The best way is to get the frame of the truck level with the top of the tires to one inch below. Good Luck!

hi there, i spent some time to get this information calling dealerships, finally i went to chicago dealership and have what i wanted....
in volvo height adjustment is set by 5 holes in beam under air bags (they are like 2on top, 1 middle,2 bottom ones) . you can't do anything to the vertical rod connected to the air valve couse changing it's lenght is cousing different reaction of the air ride level valve and is not pumping or dumping preassure correctly... i changed both air ride valve and rod to make sure everything is correct for my vin# 150$$ ,then Volvo way of measurment is like this....take a measure of the height of tire which is for my tire if remember right 41 inch, then measure height from the level ground to the bottom of frame (28,25 inch), take half of tire height so 41 / 2 comes to 20,5inch ,next step ---> then take half of tire height minus height form the ground to the frame so... 28,25 - 20,5 is 7,75!!!!!
now this number 7,75 is the distance from the center of the drive axle (welding) to the botoom of the frame ,done!! if your number is different then 7,75 you have to make it right
be patince ,read carefully and good luck :biggrin_255::biggrin_25514:

the proper height for the rear suspension can be measured from the seam in the middle of the forward drive axle to the bottom of the frame rail. should be 7 3/4 inches to 8 inches no more no less. that is the simplest way to check your height on the back

the front axle should be 7 1/4 inches from the bottom of the leveling valve brack to the bottom of the bag its self where it curves into the bell (not the bottom of the assembly)

    KB3MMX and HammerDown247 Thank this.

and when you set the front height you set only the left side (drivers) and then adjust the right side until truck is level.

adjust drive in circles a couple of times and repeat until level.

only works like this if you have dual leveling valves. if only one valve adjust on drivers side and right side should level out. i recommend updating to the dual system.
