99 volvo only idles

    After letting this truck set for a few weeks, its going into limp mode again. J1939 codes. Would the volvo mechanic be able to plug it into a computer and diagnose the problem? Would it tell them more than what I see on the DIC?

    the problem is simple. short ore craked J1939 twisted wires. check from cab-chassis connector to engine ECM first.

    Where it plugs into the ecm is it the top or bottom plug that matches up with the cab connector?

    Hello

    Just've done the same problem but on cabover

    Your problem is that you do not use instrumental cluster for diagnostics

    First of all try to read fault codes.

    Usually engine idles only if both J1939 and J1708 lines are damaged (cummins idle if J1939 is bad, J1708 is not used as spare line).

    So I sugest u have datalink ore CAN problen before, but problem was ignored till other line failed too.

    And check TPS sensor too!
