You should get at least 1 inch play on the shutter disk inside the EPG, sometimes the springs inside don't retract it back enough.

I think i have something close to this problem also, low turbo boost when driving on high elevation approx: 4000 ft there is no power and it feels like the gas pedal has no response... like something is holding it.No faults or engine codes, went about 100 times to the dealer and changed every sensor possible.im also thinking of changing the ECM. Could it be the EPG maybe?

Did you have any luck fixing this problem? I have same symptoms, this is what I've done so far, new EPG valve and solenoid replaced both. I have EGRs blocked off. Just had valve adjustment done. After adjustment had some improvement on MPG but truck is still slow. Also my truck is a lot louder inside than my other volvo, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Both are D12. The one with the issue is 2006 with 430000, my other is 2005 690000. I tested both with loads 2005 is a lot more quieter and stronger than the 06. Also boost is about the same on both...

Is the coolant clean no fuel in it and is it making excessive pressure in the cooling system. After everything u have checked I would say its an injector failing mechanically. I had the same issue after I did an overhaul on a truck with excessive oil consumption it ran ok on idle and driving but lacked power I checked and replaced everything after replacing the injectors everything was k. Also it is extremely hard to detect a misfire on a volvo engine using the injector cut out test what I would suggest using vcads pro you could rune a compression test or a cylinder balancing test at let me know what the results are u should be able to tell as you are running the test since the computer will turn the graph red for anything that's out of spec. Let me know if u came up with anything or need further help.
