On my truck compression test is ok - over 90% on all the cylinders.. computer throws no codes so electrically everything seems to be OK but you might be right.. It should be mechanical so either injectors or camshaft maybe ?
I can clearly hear engines misfire and slow response to gas pedal..
05 VOLVO truck VED D12 engine lacks power and makes 4mpg.. what is wrong?

Then most likely it's injectors I've never seen a d12 camshaft go bad how did the cylinder balance test look
-
Cylinder balance was around: +/- 10 on 4 cylinders and around +/- 40-50 on two of them :/ would say like 2nd and 4th cylinder.. dont rememebr exactly.. but even when I changed this high balanced injectors it didnt change
Do you still think it might be injectors??
And also when disconnecting front camshaft position sensor on running engine nothing happens, only rear cranshaft position sensor makes a difference when disconnected.. also same thing with cranking to start the engine up.. all sensors new -
-40 or -50 its out of spec should be around +\- 30 do u have any pressure in the cooling system or have the injector cups ever been changed. If it had a sensor issue it would throw a code right away no matter what so what u have its a completely mechanical fault somewhere it might be cups as well judging from what the balance test shows
-
I did:
overahul engine,
rebuild the head,
checked epg,
new fuel pump,
put ecm from other truck
new boost sensor.. boost is up to 30 on the road
I know for sure the truck was in accident, got hit in front but that wouldnt change anything would it? it wasnt serious cause hood is still the same, just the paint differs a little
forgot to mention when I disconnect front camshaft position sensor computer doesnt see it.. there are no codes..
when I disconnect crankshaft position sensor ecm throws codes right away -
When you overhauled this engine did the mechanic clean the injectors on the bench brush maybe or maybe drop or hit one of them. I know a guy that owns a shop around here messed up all the injector by putting them on the brush to clean them. Volvo injector tips are very sensitive if one was knicked u prob need to change them out
bravoo67 Thanks this. -
As far as the camshaft signal goes id u open the electric box and check make sure that ther is no pinched wires sometimes it happens mate when they changed the sensors
-
injectors are fine I check the wires first than maybe change injectors
thanks for help -
Let me know how it turns out
