I was having a little welding done on my truck when the welders cable that had a little fray in it came in contact with my chain box causing my truck to shut off. it started back up just fine, but i didnt notice till after he left that i now have a DATA LINK BROKEN message on my dash (codes:
mid 140 sid 250 fmi 12). also my speedometer and tachometer and qualcomm do not work either.
If anybody can help me with whats wrong and how to fix it that would be great... thanks

any ECU may be damaged and datalink is short. It is common damage with welding.

First of all, turn ign off and check for datalink (J1587/1708) resistance, must not be short! usually 60 ohm

After that unhook ECUs one by one till datalink start working, start with frame ABS unit.
