Chinese 9998555 adapter with vcads???

You can you 9998555 with VCADs Pro and TT, but it is not Volvo Engine, so you can pull/clear fault codes only.

To tune ECM you need Insite and Calterm software, but 9998555 is NOT RP1210 adapter so you cant use it with Cummins software, and you need Inline, Nexiq ore Volvo 88890020.

Really I can see no reason to tune up Celect + calibration becouse there are many more powerfull calibration files for N14 in Incal DVD

9998555 is too old thing made in early 90-s. Realy it is J1587 to RS232 direct convertor + ISO K-line to RS232 convertor.

This adapter is brainless and that's why it may be used with software it is designed for. So you can use it for TechTool and VCADs pro.

VCADs is good for any Volvo engine, but with non Volvo engine ore tranny it is just code reader.

nexiq and other RP1210 adapters are made for SAE 1708 and SAE1939. So you can easily use them with Volvo VCADs and any other sofrware, like Wabco, Knorr, Cummins Insite....

Why do they make old adapter for com port? hah - low price and .... old rigs, becouse before 1998 Volvo engines were not SAE1708 complient and you cant use nexiq with 1994 FH12!!!! But old Volvos are on road.

Yes, I have DELL D630 with com port. So as I understand you nexiq adapter is better than 9998555? Is it possible to connect with nexiq to >98 volvo? What do you think about this:
