Volvo VNL780 Cruse Control, Idle override

You have to hook a laptop up and access the ECM. All that stuff is controlled in options.

I guess your cheapest way is to get one of these $100 laptop guys running around truck stops to modify it. I know there is one yelling on the CB at the Mt. Vernon, IL Pilot. There's a few more out there.

Maybe someone else can post where they are at.

I'm not saying it's the same thing but I had this problem with an '05 International. There was a limit switch on the clutch pedal and somehow it popped around to the back side of the clutch pedal; probably from getting in/out of the truck making deliveries. I'm not sure if Volvo has the same thing but that limit switch was there to 1. disengage the clutch and 2. disengage the cruise control (or in your case the idle override). It's just a hunch but that could be the little rascal causing the problem. HTH

 

'05 International got no VECU, engine is not controlled with J1939

 

When the Idke Shutdown light appears (or message) depress the clutch and it will idle. I have the same truck and this works. Have to do it whenever the truck is stopped. It will idle non-stop
