Hi was wondering if anyone had an idea of a issue I'm having. I have a 2008 volvo 780 w/d13 485 the truck runs great while running. I have an issue when I turn it off it does not seem to want to start right back up like its not getting enough fuel initially to start so I have to crank it a lot to get it to start. It does not always do that its a hit or miss but lately it is happening more often. I did replace the fuel filters and it did seem to work for about a day or so. Also the truck seems to be doing at least 3 regen's per day while driving. The only fault codes the truck displays is MID 128 PID 412 which is egr cooler over heat. Any thoughts trying to avoid costly shop time if I can pin down the problem myself. Do they sell egr delete kits for the d13?

My truck does the exact thing It will fire up if it only sits for a day but if its parked for 3-4 days it will crank for about 30 seconds before it fires up... my truck is a 2010 VHD dump body with the D13 485hp only 28000km. still fairly new. the only way I can avoid making it crank is when i know the truck sits for a week or so i use the manual primer pump located by the secondary fuel filter to help in the starting. the fuel pressure seems to be dropping slowly. I took the truck to the volvo dealer and explained the problem but they had no intention in helping.. the truck doesn't throw any codes thus the mechanics cant find the problem. They can only change parts not find solutions or reasons. My truck is currently in our shop where we are placing a fuel gauge with a check valve between the inlet to the head and the fuel pump to determine if the leak is in the injectors.

Have them replace the Fuel Filter Housing I found a stripped bolt on mine that even though it didnt seem like it was allowing the pressure in the system to drop. Replacing that did solve the problem. Cost me 375 for the part and I installed it myself. Volvo calls for 4 hrs of labor on it I did it in six for free.

I have same truck 780 D13 model 2008 , over 1 mil miles. I had similar problems with original cooper injector caps, until Volvo came with steel injector caps recall. I paid last year only half of the price, is Volvo recall for new injectors and caps. Also the REGEN, looks.like you didn't upgrade the ECM software,my truck used to run 3 regens/day after i took it in shop and instaled the new upgrated software is running 1 REGEN every aprox 2000 miles: works a lot better i don't have anymore sensors faults and i'm getting +8mpg.

Injector cups or a cracked injector putting air into fuel

To avoid EGR overheating let engine idle for some minutes before you shut it off.

I sugest not injector cups now, but fuel check valve ore leaking a bit fuel pressure limiting valve. What is fuel rate at idle? Over 2.5 l/h - injectors are worn

    S M D Thanks this.

PDM, the 6 new upgrated injectors +steel cups kitt cost aprox 4500$ and the labour about 2000$: but check /call any Volvo shop if your motor has older cooper cups/injectors and your VIN is qualifying for upgrade program. I did my upgrade @Volvo in Terre Haute,IN in 2011, and I had to pay the labour , because my truck was already over 500k miles. For trucks with lower milage was all free. But after this I put another 400kiles without any injector problems, still running OK.
