Help...not sure how my truck keeps losing water.
I have had several issues lately with my 03 Volvo with a volvo d12 engine. I replaced the turbo and recently replaced the thermostat. Now every 150 miles i am having to add a gallon of water. I see no visible leaks. The oil looks fine and not a milky color. It isn't blowing out any white smoke. Everything else seems to be working accordingly. Hopefully, it is just something simple. If you have any suggestions, just let me know. Thanks Tammy

get your oil and coolant tested. That would be a good first start.

I bet you have a hole in a liner... it is probably pushing the water out the overflow tube... Having said that take it to a shop and have them pressure the system up and see if you have a hose somewhere leaking... One of mine did this about 6 months ago was just about to call cummins and have them quote me the price of an inframe when a mechanic friend of mine told me to stop by his house and we would pressure the system.. Turns out the water tank (clear plastic) had a crack in the seam and under pressure it was leaking like a spiget..
It could be several things.... I am just speaking of what it would normally be with my luck on the liner.. best of luck

Thank you. I do know our Volvo engine does not have an egr. But I will take it and get it tested. Thanks a lot.

Makes sure it is not the air compressor head gasket. It could be going into the air system and is being expelled by the air dryer.
