Is the VEB any noisier without EPG? I always thought EPG was there only for european noise regulations, so that it doesn't sound like machine gun when in use like JakeBrake.

Can someone measure the opening from the plunger on a new EPG. I guess I just need a reason to replace/rebuild mine

Hi, what was the outcome?, did you replace the EPG?. I ask because my D12 is producing all the symptoms you have described. I'm hoping your going to post that it just needed a good clean and I can avoid another $900+ volvo repair bill. Thanks.

NO still drive like that, EPG barely fails. Most likely your Plunger is fine, inspect the airlines that go behind engine into EPG, they are metal and can be corroded
