Hello,
My name is Costel T.. I'm I'm writing this complaint because I want to bring to light an issue that has been bothering me for the last year. I am a truck driver and I purchased a $135000 truck from Expressway Volvo in Ayr, ON, Canada. I have been having constant problems with this truck since day 1.
I had my first motor failure within 3 months of buying the truck when I was stranded in Utah. The 1st time Volvo fixed it under warranty but now, I'm once again having problems with the truck and despite still being under warranty, Volvo is refusing to fix it.
The dealer that is supposed to be performing the warranty repairs is Expressway Volvo in Ayr, ON, but instead of doing that, they're trying to hide the problem. I went to them telling them that there were problems with my truck but instead of trying to fix it, they derated the power and lowered gearbox performance in order to hide it.
We went to other dealers telling them the problems but they responded very arrogantly that I should go to the dealer that I paid for the truck if I wanted it fixed. One of them, Performance Trucks in Toronto, actually hung up on me when I asked why they haven't fixed it if they knew there was something wrong with it. It shouldn't matter which dealer is performing warranty repairs.
I replaced $8000 worth of parts out of my own pocket at Expressway trying to fix these issues, and at another non-Volvo shop, I spent another $9500 out of my own pocket to attempt to fix the issues Volvo is trying to hide. Overall, since I've bought the truck, I have invoices totalling $23000 for a truck under warranty that I shouldn't have had to spend a single penny on, and after all of this, Volvo still refuses to answer my questions.
I called Volvo Action and opened a case. The case number is 3539556. Each time I call they tell me that someone is going to call me back but I've never received a phone call back or been informed of what's happening. There is absolutely no reason why Volvo shouldn't fix my truck and they are refusing to honour their warranty agreement. How am I supposed to keep paying for a truck that has a dead motor every 5 months? It's ridiculous.
If this is how I'm being treated now, what's going to happen when my warranty is up? They're just waiting for my warranty to be up and for me to keep paying out of pocket for repairs they should've been handling.
I need help bringing this to light so that others are not in my situation and to call on Volvo to respect it's warranty agreements. This has gone on far enough.
Thanks for reading,
- Costel T.

Posting this here won't get you any help. If you indeed have a valid case, a lawyer will tell you and will be able to get the ball rolling for you. There's nothing that WE can do for you.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 30, 2012

Wow
That sounds horrible -
Call 1-800-52-VOLVO (1-800-528-6586) for complete Volvo Action Service customer support in three languages: English, French and Spanish.

Does Volvo have their own finance department? If so you might want to discuss things with them and let them know that they might be getting a POS back it it can't be fixed.
You write well and articulate well so you shouldn't have a problem making your point to folks higher up @ Volvo corporate. -
Never had a good Volvo

I don't know if Canada has a lemon law but that would be one thing to look into. I had a new Pete a few years back and had a lot of trouble with it also with out much help. I learned to become a royal pain in the behind to get people to listen to me. Call any number you can get your hands on and keep it up until they tell you somebody that can help you. It shouldn,t have to be this way but you hear more of this crap everyday. Good luck to you !!!!

Ok you put EVERY other detail in that post except what kind of problems your having with this truck??
-
Along with what the specific problems are, and whether it is a Volvo or Cummins engine, why would you spend one dime of your money on something that should have been under warranty as you say?

what engine? what year? what year is truck
what engine problem? Emission? Turbo? Head?
