After being out of truck for about a week I have started my truck,2006 Volvo with Volvo ved12 engine, today and have this high oil pressure reading on gauge ~100. It was normal before the break at 60. I thought that it is high because of cold, but after making a trip to pickup place it still shows 100psi. The truck is running ok and there are no fault messages. The oil level looks normal too. Last oil change was done about 5000 miles. What could be the cause and how save is to run with this oil pressure in engine?

I would venture it's a sending unit/gauge if it hasn't moved. If a filter collapsed it would be on the low side.

Thanks for your replys. I have just made a 1500 miles trip with the truck, so far so good. So guess I will be replacing the sensor then. I'll post what will happen.

Finally got to replace the censor. I was told the wiring was bad and somehow it broke the censor. The pressure is showing ~60 again.

you can use fuel pressure sensor... just swap sensors and keep driving, becouse w/o fuel pressure monitoring nothing bad may happen, but w/o engine protection by oil pressure.... ouh, knock--- knock)))

Just turn the key to the on position with the engine off and see if the oil pressure gauge goes up. It will usually read around 30 to 40 lbs when the sensor has gone bad. Have seen more of them reading 30 or so lbs higher than no reading at all.

Maxicruise, thanks for the reply. The issue is resolved, I have replaced the sensor. Everything is alright for now.
