I've had issues with the norcold fridge in a 2012 Volvo. It shut off in the middle of the night if I'm not idling. I've replaced the 3 batteries and put in a forth at the same time. So I got 4 1000 CCA batteries. Well now my fridge won't even turn on I've beeen looking for a fuse but I can't find one for the fridge. There is 2 screws I see when you open the door so I removed them trting to pull it out so I can get the back of the unit and I still can't get back there to test for electric. Looking to see if anybody knows where else to look for more bolts and have other ideas? Thanks!

I don't know if the design has changed any, but I have an '07 780. Mine quit after about a year and 3/4's. Volvo said it had a 2 year warranty, but it was only good if you had the refrigerated "serviced" at one year. I asked what that service consisted of, and they really did not have an answer. Back then I priced a replacement from Volvo, around $1K. A local RV shop I have dealt with does Norcold authorized work, so I had them look at it, the compressor was shot, and you cannot replace just the compressor, must replace the whole system, which cost $900, without the labor! So a Coleman thermoelectric cooler has resided in that spot ever since.

NorCold, overpriced POS......save your money, use a new type thermoelectric or if you can make room put in nice 2000 watt invertor and run a dorm or midsixe ref./frxr.....get one from Wally World or Lowes.....and you still have plenty of power for cooking etc. 1 year warranty or get the extended warranty and if something breaks take it back and get another one and redo the warranty.....pay once and have a fridge for life!!

To take it out remove the 2 bolts on the bottom, then take out the drawer above and remove the bolt on the top right side and slide it out on the tracks. I've got a 2012 780 and this is the third fridge, but this one seems to be working fine now. They (Norcold ) changed the wiring for the LVD module and messed everything up so they went back I think to where they were before and it seems to be working. My first 2 would work great as long as the truck was running or the shore power was plugged in, but if it wasn't the fan would run but the compressor wouldn't engage. Consequently things would thaw.

I also had my volvo Norcold frig failure. After many phone calls to Norcold and Norcold repair centers I found out Norcold is under agreement with Volvo not to repair these units also they are to sell any parts for them. This is all to force you to buy a new one from Volvo only. Total ripoff.

Thank you for the help. I've asked the dealership and there not much of any help. They just tell me to bring it so they can get the money for the service. But I found the fuse for it and seems to be working as long as I'm running the truck.

They also put out a service bulletin for a fix that would work on some fridges. If you pull the fridge out and look on the wired control module you will see a wire on the "P" terminal.Pull it off and tie it away, it was an extra connection they put on for that stinkin' LVD crap. This will eliminate the compressor shutting off when the truck's not running and it should run normal. Ask your dealer to look at FSB ( Field Service Bulletin ) 885-007 Refrigerator Inoperative. It's for trucks built between 11/12/2010 to 12/7/2011.

My company ordered the fridge and only one truck has one that still works. The rest were removed once they died. I have a dorm fridge plugged into the factory inverter in its place.
