Going to consider buying a used truck in a year or so. I've previously drove a Volvo and really liked it other than it being heavier than the average Freightliner. So I have a couple questions. I looked at a 780 on truckpaper.com and it had the table setup in the lower bunk, same as the one I drove before. I don't remember my truck being a 780 so I'm wondering if the table is an option in other model volvos or just the 780. My other question is, is there certain year models I should stay away from? Been reading a lot of the 2010 era trucks had issues due to various emissions crap.

The Workstation (Table) was standard in the VNL770 (1998-2003) and VNL730 (Flat top) and VNL780. (Condo) All post EPA engines have their share of problems, it's a crap shoot whatever you choose.

IMO, stay away from Volvo engines unless you like giving all your money to the Volvo Stealership when you have a issue with the engine and stick with a 13 sp manual transmission. The Autotragic transmissions are nice, but pricey once problems start happening.

Problem is if you want a Volvo, you're stuck with either a Volvo powerplant or a Cummins ISX. I've had both and it's a friggin' coin toss. Volvo has tried successfully or unsuccessfully at some point to rectify. Cummins on the other hand just sticks their head in the sand.

I have my 06 vnl six for the past 250k miles, since 500k mi, no major issues. I would buy it again or T8. I would not buy anything else.

Depends on how far back you go in terms of model years. Go back far enough, you'll find some with Cats and some with 60 Series Detroits.

After 07 Cummins fell flat on their face, they cannot stay out of the shop long enough to pay the repair bill let alone make money (generally speaking)

Volvo didn't fair so well 08-09 with emissions but since they have dominated.

Prior to 08 the d16 had injector cup and turbo issues. Volvo has fixed the turbo issue and claim to have fixed the injector cup issue as well but somehow I just picked Up ours today after getting all new injector cups in our 2014 730 d16 with 80,000km on it.

Pre 08 isx would be my best choice. D13 was always a good one too

Some Volvo 670s do have a table not all. And all 780s 730s and 880s have a table

    Also

Here is what I've learned theye is a lot more places who work on Cummins and can get part's easier. And ad far as working on Cummins for sure. But over all I love the Volvo D series enginea they're louder than Cummins but I guess it's a preference that I'd rather stick with the Volvo motor and the newer ones are great on fuel. But that also depends on if u drive with flip flops or boots ha
