Well here I am again yet another volvo with a code problem hope someone can help. I got sent out for a volvo engine code and de rate problem. When I arrived he had just finnished doing a manual regen. I cleared all codes and followed him while he plowed road. Within 5min the engine light came back on it was the same two codes that were previously active.
Unit is a 2008 Volvo with D13 codes are as follows:

    1. idle validation switch electrical fault
    mid 128 sid 230 fmi 5

    2. 5v supply electrical fault
    mid 128 sid 232 fmi 4

As we were heading back to shop about 15min after the manual regen the display again was displaying regen required. When the check engine light is on it won't allow the regen unless the truck is shut off and restarted the you can manual regen. So we regened on road side after it was done I jumped in to take the rest of way. In about 5min of starting the engine light again came on and engine de rate was active. I continued and in about 10min it was requesting another regen. I continued driving then display read "high soot level" by this time I was pulling in yard.

The road foreman called my boss and explained the symptoms and he requested mon morning for me to remove the dpf to send out for cleaning. I dont trust his diagnoses as a couple years ago we had a code appear and regen issue on the same truck he said the filters need cleaned and after they got cleaned and reinstalled no change. It turned out to be a sensor in the dpf canister. I am just wondering if anyone has had this issue or knows what the codes represent. Any help is appreciated.

What was engine core temp? You can regen all day long, or think you are; But engine core temp must be at 140 degrees minimum for regen to properly burn. So if your truck is deep, deep in the cold....

Thanks for reply. The engine temp was around 180 degrees or more. All parameters were met when it would regen. It was regening since the truck would go onto high idle for about 20min then when finished it would drop back to idle.

After some research I have found the idle validation switch is part of the throttle pedal. Has any one had problems with this switch? Tonight I will take unit for a drive and do a parked regen and make sure it completes it then check the switch. Still unsure why it wants a regen every 20min but still dont think filters are plugged.
