Why are you bringing Detroit into this? D13 is not a Detroit Diesel engine. D# is Volvo, DD# is Detroit Diesel.

I don't own one but drive a Volvo D-13 5 days a week. 2012 and newer have been very reliable. Seems that the guys who have trouble with our Shakers have trouble with the Volvos as well. And are banned from training for too many CSA and DOT points from their lousy driving and hot rodding. Have had a couple of sensor issues in 1st 175k on 2013. But they have got a very long extended warranty so we just drop it off and usually pick up next day at Dallas Mack/Volvo. I Shift is wonderful. Light yrs ahead of Auto and Ultra shift from Eaton. Lot of PacLease KWs/Petes at racks I load from. At light all floorboard it and rev the heck out of their motors. I take off about 2/3s and the I Shift catches and leaves 90% behind rather quickly. I think ours are 450hp. No idea about rears. Will cruise up most hills at governed 70mph with 8800 gallon load. On real long grades will still hold good speed. Don't like giant day cab. Nice until you need something 6 ft away. Comfortable and quiet. Good jakes that can be used anywhere with no complaints. Boss says they are great on fuel. I didn't think so, but have to remember that lot of ours is stop and go fully loaded. Headlight covers need to be taken care of regularly. They will get yellow and not polish out after a certain point. And they are proud of the entire unit you have to buy to replace. Overall my impression has been that if you do your inspections and maintenance that a Volvo will give you good service like most of the others out there.

The only two things I didn't like about the IShift was you had to watch about stopping it on a hill (ie at a redlight). When you stop it, it kicks out of gear so you better hold the brakes good on a hill and remember to press the accelerator down before you let off the brakes when you start and 2] backing to the dock with it can be interesting until you get used to it, especially backing uphill to a dock. You just basically have to keep in mind, everytime you let off the accelerator completely, it will kick itself out of gear

It doesn't kick itself out of gear it disengages the clutch. Same as you would do if you were backing in and pushed the clutch pedal. The ishift also comes with roll control for hills. It holds you for a couple seconds or until you press the to pedal. I actual do t like the feel of it and turn it off quite a bit, except for big hills when it does it's job quite well.
