All of you guys with Volvo motors and the I-shift tell me what year engine/truck is and what issues you have been having.
I have vnl780 with the isx and no issues with the drivetrain what so ever. Not to mention few clutch replacements due to a lot of heavy and short loads.
Any Volvo O-O's (780 class) running an I-Shift?

the best truck ever owned The APU is different story !magnum2 Thanks this. -
I had an Eaton 13sp in my 06 VNL780 and liked it a lot, but the iShift blows this away. I can't see any reason in shift gears manually when an automatic can do it much better. Driving in dense traffic with a heavy load is a breeze with the iShift. Plus, the trani appears to save weight, as the clearances required for manual shift linkages aren't needed. The clutch protection system ensures a long life clutch.

How much more does the D13/i-shift cost on a new truck vs. D13/13spd? Somebody mentioned earlier the 13 speed is less but the warranty costs more? How do the numbers break down on that?

Brandon,if you are thinking off buying, best advice is to go see a dealer.

at those rate for the volvo, we would save approx 100g per week, at say $3.00/g , $300 a week. $300X4.3weeks=$1290
In a month we would save nearly enough for a truck payment every month ( assuming we do 3000 miles every week) looks really good if you drive hard for your first year as owner -
The new ishifts my company is getting have the shift control moved to the dashboard just below the stereo head unit. I'm due to move into one of the trucks soon, so it'll be interesting. I used to have the mindset that "real truckers use manual trannys", but that's been for the last 10 years since my last auto. (And that was a '05 Columbia with the gutless Mercedes MBE 4000 and zf meritor auto, I'm sure by now the technology has improved ).
