I have a Tri-Pac APU. It will run on heat, fan, but when I turn on the air, it runs for about 10 seconds, then shuts down, Error code ACS. Anyone with any ideas??

as little as 1/2 lb low on freon can cause this kind of a problem. If the freon has completely dumped from a major leak, they will want to flush the system, and replace the dryer which will be major bucks.

It's typical for the freon to leak out or a bad low pressure or high pressure cut out switch. The gauges need hooked up to find it for sure. Otherwise guessing gets expensive. ACS is such a general code. It basically says your system is screwed up. Any blown fuse can throw that code too. So you might check them fuses under the bunk area. If someone has worked on it since you last used it they might of left something unplugged. I once got that code and it would do like you said which almost any error would run and shut down. My problem started after leaving a Blue Beacon. They damaged the Evaporator fan wiring on the back of the cab with their wooden brush.

Any Thermo King can service it quickly. You can google them and find a location near you. They have a large network of shops in almost every town with a little size to it.

You can probably surmise that you're gonna have to take it to thermoking to fix especially if it's a low freon problem.
They may find there's a slight leak. But there's a plethora of things that could cause the problem

You all gave me the answer I did not want to hear. I know "Thermo King Shop = Big Bucks", but if I want to be comfortable this summer, it will have to be done. Thank you all for the great and quick answers.

Probably leaking freon. Those APU's are nothing but money pits as all savings realized by no idling will be donated to the repair man and then some. Better off getting rid of these asset drains and idle .

I had haven to me about 8 months ago, they found a small pin hole in one of the lines, 20 days later I get the same code, the fan motors wires were broken on the back of the condenser. Thermal king didn't charge me for the second job.

and how many have you owned?? mine works quite well with very few problems, it isn't a thermoking. regular maintenance is the key.
